A new ginger neighbour

I've noticed a fluffy ginger cat around a few times, which has really stood
out since there are only a handful of cats in the neighbourhood.  I never
got to meet him until today.

I opened the front door to let Chester out and we came face to face with the
ginger, who was sniffing at our door.  Chester, who has reached terminal
fatness, ripped out the door in hot pursuit.  They did they typical cat
standoff with the interloper under a car in front of the house and Chester
peering under.  I think Chester was three times the size of "Ginger".  I
didn't get to see what happened afterwards because the baby was crying.

Otis was hysterical.  He was inside the house when this happened with his
nose pressed up against the window.  I could hear him willing me to let him
out!  Some time later, Chester came back in with a tail the size of
raccoon's tail and Otis raced out to find ... nobody.

When I left the house later, I drove by the house I suspect is Ginger's
home.  I could tell because there was Ginger DOING THE CELLO ON THE FRONT
LAWN.  Hysterical.  I laughed all the way down the block.  What a way to
announce your arrival into the neighbourhood :-)

LOL! I'm glad Otis didn't get to 'welcome' Ginger. ;)

IM ON UR LAWN CLEENIN MY PRIVETZ. ;)

We have a new orange-and-white boy visiting around here, too. He's
quite big and round, and has a very cheeky face-- the face of a whole
tom.  I saw him a few weeks ago when there was still snow on the
ground.  And he was in the yard, smelling my crocuses a couple, of
days ago (yes, "IM IN UR YARD SMELLIN UR FLOWRS" ;))
Stinky and Dante were absolutely indignant.  Those orange boys have
'tude to spare. ;)

try living with them... we got a new back sliding door and Tiger was talking
to the world and to the yellow boy who was in HIS yard so loud I am sure the
entire town heard it... and in December when we had the ice storm/no
utilities, DH had set a pizza box on the patio... it was closed and on top
of the coolers of food... he went out to get milk and spooked a cat...
thought it was our buff colored Chester at first... while trying to figure
out how he had gotten out he retrieved the milk and turned to come in the
house, Tiger and Chester were both on the buffet... NOT at all happy... DH
thinks well I'll eat the pizza since I am out her... that cheeky fellow had
eaten all of the cheese off the top of two large slices of pizza... Lee

I have a relatively new human neighbor next door, and the other day, I
found out I also have a black and white neighbor of the feline
persuasion. =o)  This kitty is an adolescent, I would estimate about
six months old, with a nicely marked black and white coat. When I pass
by his/her apartment and B&W happens to be in the window, he/she talks
to me urgently. It's either 'hello, who are  YOU?" or "Let me outta
here!"

Are you sure he's intact? Maybe he was just neutered after he'd grown up
and developed his cheekiness.

My lovely friend June, who has 30ish dogs, two litters of puppies (she is a
famous breeder of world class whippets) a useless husband who cannot stir
his own tea, let alone get himself anything to eat, a 96 y o father in
hospital (in the last few days) is still coming every morning to feed and
water the chickens for me.
She also emptied my ash hod down on the compost heap and got out my Dyson so
I can make an attempt at cleaning up as my boss is visiting tomorrow.
I have taken over evening duties which only consists of dropping popholes at
dusk.

Tweed

P.S.
Have I said already that I asked her to keep the cats in at night while I
was away, she quickly understood Boyfriend's timidity about coming inside
while she was in the house herself, so she went down the garden and
pretended to be messing around with the chickens so he thought she hadn't
noticed him and went straight in!

June sounds like she's worth more than her weight in gold, I'm glad you have
such good friends.

"Lovely" isn't a good enough word. Does she have a halo?

Thanks Christina - so glad to see you back!  I've been thinking about you
and sending you good operation purrs.

The baby is crying though and I have to go feed him again!

Will look for an update from you.

Thanks for the welcome back.  I'm - what's that phrase?  "as well as can be
expected."   KFC and Boyfriend are fine, very thrilled to see me yesterday.

Tweed!  You're back!  Great to see you posting again.  How are you
doing?  We're still purring for a quick, complete, and pain-free recovery.

How are you?? Did the surgery go OK? Are you feeling any better?

To be honest, not as well as I expected to be.  I underestimated the effect
and the level of pain, figuring that it would be a piece of the proverbial
after the last lot :-P

> Did the surgery go OK?

I think so.  The surgeon did not insert the plastic mesh after all, he just
sewed up the two defects in the muscle wall.  It's called a "tension repair"
whereas a repair with mesh has no tension on it and is therefore less
painful apparently.

> Are you feeling any better?

Better than the first couple of days after the op, yes!  My sleep pattern is
all over the place and I am exhausted.  Hopefully this time next week I
shall be much improved.  Thanks for asking.
