In the rain. Senyah had opened the door, and out he ran, into the pouring
rain.
When I got home, I went calling for him. My reflexes must be slowing down
- First Bucky, then Dulce Mae went out to help me find Little Boy.
Dulce Mae was easiest to retreive, as she couldn't believe that WATER was
falling from the SKY. Back inside with my pretty girl.
Bucky gave me an "Oh ho! Oh ha! I grew up outdoors, so I don't mind
getting wet. Well, not much. Um, on thid thought it is drier inside..."
Back inside with our temporary juvie.
I walked around the side of the apartment, where Little Boy has been known
to hide in the building frame now and then. Rain drips dowm my face as I
call for the little brat. I see some motion off to my right, and look down.
Little Boy is stansing on the curb, looking up with those pretty green
eyes. He meows a "Here I am!", and I pick him up. He cries at having to go
in. Especially when he sees the "mean cats" (Acqui, Blackie and a big
drenched fluffy orange cat) eating at our door.
Inside for the hissy brat, who promptly hisses at and bats anyone else who
gets near. A few words and a cuddle, though, and he eventually cools it
down, while I dry the two of us off.
Hugs and Purrs,
Mark

Right after we moved here Doc wanted to go outside so badly that once
when it was raining I thought I'd let him go out on the covered porch.
He *hates* water, so I figured he wouldn't venture off the porch. Hoo,
boy, was I wrong.
He went along the wall of the house, perfectly dry, under bushes and
shrubs, darting from house to house. I, on the other hand, was stuck
standing in the rain calling to him to get him to come back in.
My downstairs neighbors thought that was quite amusing. I didn't see the
humor. :-p

Reminds me of the time I was visiting my parents in North Carolina, leaving
Charlie home with two six month old puppies who had never seen rain, and
their mamma dog who didn't like rain.
Charlie called me long distance to ask what to do since it was raining and
the dogs needed to go out. (I explained to him about umbrella's and
reminded him we even owned one that was in the coat closet)

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who has had to escort a pup out in
the rain with the big golf umbrella... Somehow I just always thought my
family was just super-indulgent. :) The cats are indoor-only and seem to
enjoy watching the dog go out in the rain, mainly because they know they
have climate controlled bathrooms, LOL.

I loved my dog Sampson (RB 1999) very much. I did *not* love walking him at
3AM in the pouring rain, umbrella or no umbrella. Cats are really so much
easier!

Hear, hear! I loved my dogs as well, but when I didn't live where I could
just let them out (fenced-in yard) walking them in the rain was not one of my
favorite activities.
Thank Whomever for litterboxes and clumping litter!

While Cinders isn't bad about wanting to go outside, Annabel Lee (died
2002) was forever wanting to dash out the door as soon as I got home.
She didn't necessarily want to stay out for long, she just wanted to
check what was happening outside. On several occasions, she started
to go out the door, found that it was raining outside, and did a
U-turn. She would then dash to the far side of the house, as if to
say, "No! No! You can't make me go out in the wet!".

Very similar to the (to me) extremely moving first scene in <The Door
into Summer> where Pete, a cat of course, keeps going from door to
door, hoping for one where it isn't raining or sn*wing. Before I came
to this wonderful NG and read the lowdown on the Rainbow Bridge, I
figured my BD and Snowball and Feather, and the pets of my childhood,
had found their own Doors and were waiting for me beyond. It's the
same basic idea and still feels right.
