First, Sam asked about Loki.  He's a spitz.  Has a thick, double coat
like an eskimo dog...impervious to the cold...kind of a mess right now
because I've chopped off some of his ruff so his bark collar will
work, and some of his back end so he doesn't run around with
dingleberries. :)  He needs to have all that winter coat brshed out.
I put up a photo of what he looks like on a good fur day....

Wanted to thank everyone for their sympathy and kind words for my
Punker's crossing.
I've spent some time with my memories and these are a couple things I
wrote about my sweet baby girl....  Andy, I hope you're doing ok???

Last Days
She sits in the window
facing the gentle spring sun,
breezes ruffling her
grey and white fur,
a pink nose pointing up,
sniffing, smelling things
I can't imagine.
Clear, intelligent eyes
look at me as I
speak softly
until my voice breaks,
then she rubs her cheek
against my hand.

Wild Girl
She came to us at six months.
Biting through my thumb
I was on antibiotics
for two weeks.
At eight months, she dragged home
a gopher from the field
as big as she was...
Maybe it was a fight to the death,
perhaps she found it,
either way she claimed it
as her own with
fierce kitty growls.

What a fine feller. Our Bear, a Lab, needs very little grooming but
he'd LOVE to be "impervious to the cold," although he does moderately
well in all weather.

Beautiful work. It made me cry and laugh. Poor gopher. He didn't know
a little lion had moved into the neighborhood.

He's a very handsome fella.
