The Highland Kitties (and humans) arrived safely in Iowa

Sorry I haven't updated recently, but things have been a bit busy here.

Our drive from CA to IA was fairly uneventful, and we got into Grinnell,
IA on Friday. The place we rented turned out to be way smaller than we
expected (yes, we rented it sight-unseen), so we put 3/4 of our stuff
into storage, and are basically camped out on the ground floor of this 2
story house for now.

Saturday we ran into Newton (where my job will be moving this summer),
intending to look for a larger house to rent. Much to our surprise, we
found a nearly perfect house, set up just the way we would like, at a
price we can afford to BUY! So we made an offer on it, and it was
accepted. Now it's just a question of arranging the financing.

The kitties traveled pretty well. None of the them enjoyed the trip, but
none of them were overly traumatized either. Ranger-man (who can now be
called Ranger Roadcat, since he rode in the big truck with me for 2 days
of the journey) and Harri have been pretty cool and laid-back about the
whole thing, but all the other kitties kept themselves pretty well
hidden for the first 24 hours. Now, however, everybody seems to settling
in nicely and all seem to be comfortable in our new place. Perhaps a
little TOO comfortable - our mattress starts to feel like a racetrack
late at night, when all 6 of the kitties come to snuggle for at least
part of the night.

I'll post more when I get a little more time.  Thanks, everybody, for
your purrs! A few more would be appreciated, until we get the new house
purchase completed.

New home purrs are on the way.  It sounds as though Bast is looking after
you, what with finding the perfect house right away.

Uneventful can be good!  Grand that you found the perfect home.  That
difference in cost of living between CA and IA, eh?

((Perhaps a little TOO comfortable - our mattress starts to feel like
a racetrack))

Awwww....  You're their link to stability in all this nasty
upheaval. :)

That's understandable! I have wondered how your move was going. Glad to
hear everyone is settling in now. And what luck with the house! Many
purrs for that to happen soon.

Glad to see you back, Dan!  Good trip.  I was concerned about your trip
given the icy weather en route.  Hope the kitties made the trip okay.

Happy to hear the trip was uneventful.  Happier yet that you've found a
place to call your *own*.  Purrs coming for a successful finance.

Yes, they are, aren't they?  So glad everyone arrived safely and
are settling in.  I hope the new job is a winner and you'll be happy
with it.  Good luck on getting the new house easily and hope you enjoy
it.  Things look rosy for you and I trust they will continue that way
-- you guys certainly deserve the best.

My brother still lives in Davenport; don't know if he's familiar with
Newport or if it's anywhere near there.

Scritches to the furry crew.

My theory is that cat purrs show harmony with the Great Matrix/tao,
and people have serendipitous experiences when they go with the flow,
letting their "chi" help balance things.  It would really get mystical
to think the cats were helping balance things their way by getting the
Great Matrix to provide the house.  bookburn
