On 3/24/2004 we took in a timid 3-year old tabby girl from the local kill
shelter, just as they were filling up with kittens. No one seemed to want
her as she hid in the back of her cage rather than desperately pawing
through the bars as the other cats did to get attention. She had the cutest
green eyes and brown & black coat, and a sweet purr when we held her. We
took the girl home that night and gave her a warm forever home. She was
named Jasmine at the shelter, but the two of us computer geeks re-named her
as Cat Five.
For Five's 6th purrday tonight we're giving her some special treats, some of
her favorite take-homes from the local Red Lobster. I never had a cat
before we adopted her, now I can't imagine not having a loveable lap-cat as
sweet as Cat Five! :)

Way to go! Take the cat that others don't pay attention to. I did that with
WiIllie at the shelter and he was a magnificent pet/ And then Harry, who was
such a pathetic figure, too much in pain and too ill to do much of anything, and
now he's a great purrbaby. I said when I took him that I love a happy healthy
older cat, well he wasn't healthy, then but now that he is it turns out he
issn't that old either but he sure is happy. Norm

Good for you! =o) I'm happy that Cat Five had such good luck in
finding her new forever home with you. May she continue to bring you
good fortune in return for your good deed in rescuing her from the
shelter.
I'm coming up on the third anniversary of finding Francesca at the
local Humane Society. She was (and still is) so beautiful that I
simply fell in love and had to have her. Little did I know then that
I picked the kitty with the surprise inside!

Hoppy Purrday to Five and Hoppy Annifursary to you! Sounds like a
purrfect match all around. (Now did this message contain enough silly

Thanks to you all :) She's enjoying her day-after now with some of her
favorite gooshy food (not a recalled brand, and bought well before the
recall and no ill effects!) with some cat grass & fresh grown catnip leaves
folded in and garnished, in front of "Cat TV" - the patio door! :)

Thank you! :)
Five had a trip to TED on Thursday. Since we had been giving her Iams
canned food as Sunday "treats" and the factory code matched, but the date
code was over 100 days earlier, we wanted to make sure she was ok. So she
had blood & urine samples taken for a kidney check and thank $DEITY all
tests came up passed! Five's TED has been waiving the regular exam fees and
charging only the lab fees for folks coming in just to have their pets
screened for effects from the suspect food. She has the indignity of a
shaved spot on her neck, but otherwise is fine!

I'm so glad she's alright, this is a very worrying time for US pet owners.

I like Five's TED. Congrats to you all for having each other. A good cat
deserves a good family. Ok, all cats deserve a good family, but what I
wrote sounded good.
