Some of you may remember Mango, who was signed over to us when an
owner couldn't afford to pay for the medical care Mango needed and
didn't want to euthanize.

Well Mango has been at our hospital since last November thereabouts
and we've been trying to find him a home.  We all love him and all but
he's a bit of a handful.

He's an orange cream DMH, a Siamese mix with slightly crossed blue
eyes.  He's reportedly about 9 years old, but honestly i would say 9
years going on twenty.  He looks kinda old and haggard and not to
mention a bit senile.

He'll walk into a room and suddenly stop and look around like he
forgot why he was there.

He'll walk around the entire clinic with his low, "mrrrOOOOOOOWWWWW!!"
that's quite characteristic of a Siamese

Mango has no fear of dogs.  Now while that may seem like a plus, I
would go as far as saying that he has no CONCEPT of dogs.  There will
be a dog that i'm holding and Mango will just walk RIGHT by, totally
within biting range and even though I'm struggling to keep this dog
from attacking him, Mango just continues walking completely oblivious
to the snapping jaws.

He's had quite a few close calls too when he'll walk too close and
suddenly a dog will go after him.  He's manage to defend himself but
still he's an accident waiting to happen.

On the flip side, he's so oblivious and clueless that he's totally
TOTALLY adorable too.  He'll curl up in the kitchen in a ball and just
sleep the day away.  He also goes limp when you pick him up so he'll
just drape himself on your shoulder when you carry him around.

Once i was in the kitchen eating lunch and he jumped up onto my lap,
walked up my chest and headbutted me right in the mouth.  My feet were
up on a chair and he settled down and fell asleep.  Dr. S came in and
was looking for a place to sit and I tried to tell him I couldn't move
my feet cause I was being weighed down by a cat.  Mango is a
sweetheart and you cal always count and hearing his
mmmmmrrrrOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW everywhere he goes.  It can get
annoying at times but you can't blame him.

He also has some medical issues too.  We think he's a little hard of
hearing and a little vision impaired too.  He had a mouth full of
rotten teeth and though we took out the really bad ones the rest will
have to come out soon.

Also he has renal insufficiency, so twice a week I'll pick him up and
to his chagrin give him subcuaneous fluids.

A cat with all these problems, who would want to give him a home?

Well, it turned out that our newly hired kennelworker/groomer just
LOVES cats and she's fallen in love with Mango.  She adopted Mango and
is his new meowmie.  Dr. C, the doctor that's been caring for him is
his godmother, and i'm his unofficial aunt.

So he's gone home with her and twice a week she brings him back so he
can get his fluids and inspect the kitchen again before taking a nap.
I then get a chance to cuddle him and say hello.

Kristi

ps, I heard that the first night she took him home he kept her up all
night wandering around with his mmmmmmrrrrrrrrrOOOOOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!!

Geez.........
