I’ve been so busy I haven’t posted a lot of journals lately.

There’s been a TON of things that have been going on, so much that
it’s been hard ofr me to write them all down.

Well today I have a lazy day, so I figured now would be a good time to
catch up and keep you guys updated.  This will be a series of posts so
bear with me.

***********************************

Few weeks ago I FINALLY received my RVT certificate from Sacramento.
As soon as I plan to frame it.  Actually I have three certificates to
frame; my diploma for my Associates Degree in Veterinary technology
from Pierce College; my Certificate of completion of the RVT program
at Pierce, and now my certificate officially naming me as a Registered
Veterinary Technican.  ☺

I know I passed the exam last month, but it took the government about
5-6 weeks to get me my certificate.  Oh well…..

I’m quite proud.  And at work, my manager has started to have everyone
wear nametags, and I’m quite proud that my reads, “Kristi, RVT”

********************************

Of course being an RVT hasn’t changed me, since I certainly don’t feel
superior to my fellow employees.  I do feel quite good though,
hehehe.  One of my best friends and former classmates is working at my
clinic now to earn hours and to complete her task list.  It’s the same
list that I struggled with last year.  I’ve made it a personal goal to
make sure that my friend completes as much of the list as possible.
No one helped me complete my list, and it caused me a lot of grief
last year, so I’m making sure that my friend doesn’t go through the
same thing.  In fact the other day I personally coached her in placing
her very first IV catheter.  She was quite nervous,  but she got
through it.

And ironically, it was only a year ago that I started placing
catheters, and I remembered how nervous I was.  Now I’m pretty
confident at placing them.  I’ve really come a long way since last
year.

********************************

I've even started to extract a few teeth too.  Well, provided that
they are so loose you can easy pluck them out.  Last week and this
week we've had dogs that came in for dentals with teeth so rotten that
I was able to just pull them out.  One of the surgeries from yesterday
lost 15 teeth.  I pulled out two of them.  15 may sound excessive, but
if you say the x-rays, you could totally see the bone loss and
abcessing.  Ick!  Moral of the story:  TAKE CARE OF YOUR PET'S TEETH
AND IMPLEMENT HOME DENTAL CARE!!

********************************

Take care,

Kristi

I enjoyed all your posts, Kristi. Mango and Timmy both sound like such
characters!

Congratulations, Kristi, RVT.  There was no doubt in my mind that you would
succeed.  You have every right to be proud.

And pat yourself on the back for reaching out to help a former classmate
complete her tasks.

In my house that would require several bad bites per day, per cat, for
the rest of their lives.  Plus a lot more bastard cat tricks.

You are a kind soul, giving something forward.

Karma and all that
