Jim & I spent today in the emergency room. The tests showed that he has
blood clots in both lungs. He will be admitted tonight.
I came back to the place we are staying and fed the kitties and packed Jim
some essentials. I will take them to him tomorrow. We don't know how long
he will stay or if he will be able to travel afterward.
All purrs and prayers are welcome.
We have put all future plans on hold until he gets through this.
I probably won't be able to answer very many posts, but we continue to send
purrs and prayers for all in need. Jim and I and Rosie and Cinder thanks
all in advance for any positive vibrations that are sent our way,

Annie, big time vibes being sent for Jim. How scary -- especially
somewhere other than home. Are you going to be okay where you are?

Thanks for your concern. We are at the best place we could possibly be for
something like this. This is where we formerly lived and we have lots of
friends here. Right now, we are in a friend's house instead of a motel.

OK. To try to reassure. I had a pulmonary embolism about ten years ago. I
spent a week in the hospital on heparin and then several months on coumadin.
As I understand it, they no longer make you stay in the hospital that long.
You have to have frequent blood tests to make sure the coumidin levels don't
get too high or too low. They never did find the source of the primary
blood clot. I've never had a recurrence. My doctor told me at the time,
that a single episode doesn't increase your chances of future clots. But
I've ended up with quite a few scans on the veins in my legs as no one wants
to take a chance when I have leg pain.
So there is still a good chance that after a few weeks you will be able to
continue with your summer. He will have to be careful not to sit for too
long without a break to walk around when you are driving or flying. But
everyone should do that.
Plus there are a lot of things they can do to protect you if you do get
recurring clots. A friend of my daughter had numerous episodes when she was
in her early twenties. They installed filters in her veins to keep then
from going to her lungs. And she is doing great fifteen years later.

Thanks so much, Jo, for telling me what I needed to know.
However our summer goes, I just want us to be able to do it together.
I don't feel very brave right now. I can't tell you how much I appreciate
your encouragement. you have helped tremendously.

Oh, no! I'm so sorry - and I hope that it is something that can be
treated easily. Do you have any word on what caused the clots? That
sounds really scary.

Oh my goodness, Annie, what a terrible worry. Lots and lots of purrs and
positive vibrations coming over the pond for Jim to recover swiftly and for
your frazzled nerves.
I haven't forgotten how kind you were to me when I was so ill. You sent me
a card with a little child trying to climb over something high, do you
remember? I still have it.
That's what it's like when you are quite ill, a hurdle that is almost too
high - towards recovery that you might not believe will happen.

I remember how worried you were and I'm glad you got better. I hope your
next surgery goes well, too.
