Does anyone know what to do with a beef cut called beef chuck short rib
boneless. I'm currently baking it at 350 degrees.  I'm wondering if I'm
going to regret that.  I really should look this stuff up first.

I'm not sure.  Short ribs are fine just roasted at 350 for about an hour.
But short ribs are rib meat.  I thought the ribs and the chuck were a long
way away from each other.  Chuck needs braised for several hours.

Then again I might have no idea what I'm talking about.  (right now I'm
braising a really nice chuck roast with vegetables for dinner)

I'd agree if it's boneless it's more like a roast and should probably be
braised in a low, slow oven.

Better plan on leaving it in your oven for three hours or
so!  (I usually do the tougher cuts of meat in my slow
cooker, so I can forget about them until they are done.)

Sounds like reasonable question to me? Does everyone else interpret
something I don't see?
There *are* fences made for that purpose, that are supposedly safe for
the cat and effective. The downside is, they're expensive. I don't
have the link, does anyone else?
We compromise and only let the cats out when we are outside, and just
watch them. They're mostly old and don't wander off.
My daughter built an "enclosure"--sort of a "pen" for the cats. It
does not have to be elaborate or huge. But it's nice to give them a
safe area so that they can enjoy the sunshine & fresh air, and still
be safe, I think.

Or there is that "fence in" stuff. http://www.catfencein.com/

(Sherry, I think it is just because of the lack of puctuation etc. It can
look trollish.)

Tell us about your cat, devarce.

Um, "devarce" = "device"?

IMHO it meant to be "device".   MLB

<<stepping on my soapbox>>
This is a friendly group who has always, long as I remember, welcomed
new cat slaves. Just a reminder that sometimes English isn't the first
language for some posters. (Being unable to translate a single word of
another language, I have th utmost respect for anyone who's can
communicate in several languages!)

Well said Sherry.  the group forgets itself sometimes and tends to jump the

Did someone call this poster a troll? I missed that post.

This has been the oddest, most random thread. :)

I'm with you on this one. I have no idea what this is all about. A troll
posted two questions, one unintelligible and the other, a supposed reply to
the OP, as a totally OT question.

Ummmm..... I think we assumed the accusation was understood
when the first response was essentially a recipe request.
(Remember our traditional response to trolls on this group?)

Oh, is that why there was suddenly a discussion about roast beef, or
something? I didn't realize it was a recipe. LOL! I thought this was
a pretty odd thread. The subject line itself doesn't make much sense,
and the contents got even more strange.

I thought folks had stopped doing the troll-b-que's because of some
problem that happened when I was off doing other stuff and not reading
Usenet.

The first few replies were recipies. That's why I thought it was
perceived as a troll post. If I'm wrong, I'm sorry.
Yes, the thread is getting hysterically random. The OP has probably
given up and went off scratching his head at the crazy cat people ":)

Is "devarce" a NAME?  (I thought it was just "device",
misspelled!)

I didn't think it was a troll - just someone with very
little knowledge of cats (and atrocious English - probably
non-English speaking and trying out what he/she has so far
learned in "English I" classes).

However, we have mostly English-speakers in my apartment
complex, and I just saw a sign posted out by my building's
mailboxes:  "Doxson for sale, $100.  3 years old, papers"!
(Although I can't imagine so callously selling a member of
my "family", they MUST have meant "dachshund" - a three-year
old "Datsun" would certainly cost more than $100!)

Ha. No, I'm sure the owner just can't spell it. People put want ads up
at the post office here and some of the spelling just slays me.
Something, somewhere, obviously happened to people who were taught
spelling around here. It's the younger folks who spell the weirdest.

Favorite sign faux paus: The VFW post was selling flags in the *rear*
plaza of the insurance office. The sign on the marquee said, "Show
your patriotism with a flag and pole in rear. Why not?"
I laughed myself silly and said outloud, "Yeah, why not?" I went the
next day with a camera, and it was changed to "in plaza."

That's easy - you CAN'T!!!  (Even keeping mine indoors would
be a problem if I did not keep a squirt-bottle of water
beside the door, and take it with me whenever I leave the
apartment.)
