I've got a hissed-off kitty

In preparation for moving Nancy and I are throw out a lot of junk. A LOT
of junk. Including some old, worn furniture that's too shabby to move
with us.

Saturday my brother helped me haul our old sofa to the dump. Seeing that
poor, tired thing in the light of day reinforced that it was way past time
for it to be retired. No problem, we just loaded the pieces into two
pickup trucks (it was a big sectional), and off we went.

Unfortunately I didn't think to ask the kitties for permission before
hauling it off. Everyone is okay with it's being gone except Harri. Harri
used to sleep on the sofa at night, and sit on the back to look out the
window, and use the sofa to jump to the top of the kitty shelf to give me
head-bumps when I go through the front door. She now doesn't have that
wonderful piece of furniture.

Saturday night/Sunday morning my pager kept going off every couple of
hours (I love getting SPAM on my tech support pager). Every time I would
get up and stumble out into the living room, Harri would wrap herself
around my ankles and squeak her heart out, telling me about how some
dastardly hoomin stole her sofa. I would pick her up and cuddle her and
assure her that she'll have a brand new sofa when we get too Iowa, but I
don't think that reassured her.

When I put her back down on the floor and went back to bed without
restoring her sofa, Harri was not pleased. She chose to express her
displeasure by stalking around the living room and up and down the hall
growling. For 5 or 10 minutes, I got to listen to this micro-panther
yowling and screaming in the hallway. Honestly, I never knew my little
baby girl even knew words like that!

oooooooo BAD DADDY!!!  Stealing Harri's sofa, you BETTER buy her a new
one!

And about the yowling, it's amazing the noises our cats will make.

Didn't think a cute girl like Harri could say things like that?  You
ought to hear the noises i hear just before Mischief and Mayhem start
fighting.  I'd post it here, but it would need to be censored.  :)

This morning at 5am I was woken up by the unholy din that means the Furballs
have decided to have one of their more serious brawls- don't know what
started it, probably Sarsi objecting to Dunzi giving her an enforced wash-
that's what usually starts them off.

That's true! And she *did* hear me get rather expressive when I
encountered lousy drivers...

Dan,
I was worried that you were buried in a snowdrift in Iowa.

No, not yet. We don't get to the land of snowdrifts and cold weather until
around the 21st of this month.

Dan I am truly sorry, it occurs to me that it may well be our fault, at the
beginning of her life in the in she had much worn furniture to comfort her,
and she often hid under it to taunt Miss Violtte, Lee

Not a problem! We'll be replacing the old furniture when we arrive in IA,
and Harri will be fine then. I suspect she's also going to be intrigued
with the stairs.
Stormmee - 06 Mar 2007 01:23 GMT
just remember, even if you get new unworn furniture... they will "customize
it"  Lee, giggling ...  it will truly be new for her as we have no steps
here at all,

It will be new for me as well - I've never lived in anything other than a
single-story house (except for the times I lived in hotels, but that
doesn't count).

Between Harri, Ranger, Tabitha, and Sammy, I'm sure that we're going to
be treated to the sounds of herds of wildebeast thundering up and down
the stairs in the wee hours of the morning.

Who knows, even Cleo and Amelia might get into playing with the stairs.
It might even help Amelia to shed some of her "fluffiness".

Now that alone is sufficient reason to rent a two-story home!
Stormmee - 06 Mar 2007 20:59 GMT
that is a good attitude, and as long as the nightly romp isn't for extended
hours it might even be fun, Lee

Just don't let them get into "crouch down low on a step so the human
can't see me, and see if we can make the human fly down the stairs"
game! :)

Good luck with the move!!

She'll probably find the best time to run up and down the stairs is 3am. ;-)

Oh, my! She must have picked it up on the road. ;) You'll have to buy
her the grandest new sofa you can find in Iowa.
