I think every time Harvey whines for food he doesn't need, I'm going to pick
him up and nuzzle his tummy. He -hates- that.

I bet he doesn't really hate it. If he did, you'd be sporting some lovely
wounds.

You're right about that Karen.  But then again.......there's our manx,
Bobby Pants.  Bobby actually likes it when my DH rubs his belly with
both of his hands, then gently grabs up two handfuls of Bobbys tummy
fur, and lifts him a couple inches off the floor, then sets him back
down.  Once is never enough.  Bobby starts squirmming all about, and
nudging DH for more 'belly lifts'.

They are so silly.;)  You just can't predict what they will like.
This sounds awful, but Stinky likes to be grabbed by the root of his
tail, and pulled backwards a few feet.    Little Mimi liked to be
rubbed down with a big rough towel.

LOL!  Well, it would be pretty hard to do the 'backwards tail lift'
with Bobby, since all he's got is a chubby little nub.  He'd probably
love the 'towel rumble' though.

I read that tail pulling can injure the spine....

I do not pull it sharply or yank it.  I will bear in mind what you
say.

Some cats just love it rough.

I find it fascinating how cats manage to communicate thier desires,
especially when what they like seems quite bizarre. :-)

It really is fascinating Adrian.  And also that they are so different.
If anyone were to try the 'belly lift' with say, Darla, they'd
probably have to be hospitalized for their wounds.  But if you were to
do the 'backwards tail lift' to her like Theresa's Stinky loves to do,
she'd probably get major caltitude (elevator butt) and want more.
