Kitty Farmcat in the garden

I was a bit of a sleepyhead this morning.  I first woke at 7. "no way on a
Sunday" I said to myself so I rolled over and went back to sleep.
I was woken up by a meow at the bedroom door at 9.30.  Boyfie was reminding
me that it was past time to let the chickens out and so it was.  The fact he
hadn't had his breakfast did not come into the equation, of course ;-)
So I sprang out of bed - well sort of - and went immediately down the garden
to let out the poor chickens who had no doubt been crowding against their
popholes since early light.
Boyfie came with me naturally, in case anything bad happened to me doing
this dangerous task.
Normally when I get up I feed the cats first.  Today's departure from normal
procedure saw KFC searching for me 40 yards from the house.  We only noticed
her on the way back.
I was thrilled that she had ventured outside, but Boyfie was not.  When he
spotted her, that she was *outside* he ran to her and chased her back inside
the house.  At first she didn't want to, she wanted to walk back beside me,
but he would not allow it.  He boxed her ears to make her comply.
Poor Kitty ran like a rabbit for the house, really fast.

Boyfriend seems to be a real worrier.  He doesn't seem to think that either
KFC or myself are safe in the garden.  Or is it something else?
Maybe he likes the house to be occupied by the person and cat he feels
comfortable with to make him feel safe when he returns from his rat patrols,
like a small child returning from school.
I remember returning from school, and my grandmother was always there.  If
I'd got back and the house was empty...
Maybe in some way, that's what Boyfie is trying to prevent.  Although, is it
possible for cats to think in this kind of way?

His attitude would be old-fashioned and incorrect in a human but he is
such a gallant and courageous little guy that it is good to see. He is
protecting his ladies. No rat or dove would dare attack you if he is
present and even if a chicken went mad and attacked you he would be
there to protect you. Having Kitty there made for complications. Not,
quite, being able to be in two places at once, he had to get her back
inside so he could go back to protecting you.

Winnie thinks even more of his buddy Boyfie now that I have told him.
Of course, he depends on Bear, the mighty Lab as our first line of
defense but he understands Boyfie's attitude completely.

BoyFriend just loves you and KFC. He will protect you
both even if it means boxing your ears so you listen to
him. <grin>

Or maybe he's part border collie? :) He's herding both of you back to your
pen. :)

Wow, Boyfie dared to strike the Kween!   It would be nice if KFC could
enjoy the sunshine.  Maybe Boyfie just wants his girls together.  I
know Stinky prefers everybody to be together.
