We decided tonight to carve our pumpkins and max helped.  I've never seen a
cat who at pumpkin or pumpkin seeds he loved it. heres a picture of him
sitting next to the pumpkin he tried to help carve.  Right before the
picture he was eating pumpkin out of the bowl but i didn't get it in time.

There really is no telling what a cat will decide to taste, is there?
With Sammy, I think she just has to try everything to make sure she
isn't missing out - she seldom likes hoomin food anyway.

BTW, it lookks like you have a picture of my Sunshine cockatiel there
;-))

It's a cute photo!

Steve, when John and I were at the art show in Highland, IL (it was an
outdoor show) there was a woman walking around with a gorgeous young
cockatiel on her shoulder.  Obviously wing-clipped, but it didn't even
*attempt* to try to go anywhere and wasn't daunted by the crowds or the
attention.  I went over to say hi and the bird hopped on my shoulder and
started *trying* to sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" in my ear.  It was
too cute!

They are pretty smart little birds, but not the best mimics - at least
in my experience. Sunny is a very quiet girl, but her cage mate Tiger
is very vocal and has a small repertoir of whistles. She only does
them when she feels like it, never on command (she does a very good
wolf whistle). Boys are supposed to be more vocal, so for the longest
time I thought Tiger was male - then he laid an egg ;-)

Steve Touchstone <stouchst@junksirinet.net> had some very interesting
things to say about Re: Cockatiel (WAS: Re: max helps carve the

Sounds like the surprise Avery/Ava gave us. :-)

Ohh!  Criminally cute!!!!

I was once in a flea market, and *everybody* heard these
blood-curdling shrieks, but nobody there seemed very concerned. ;)
Soon I was able to locate the shrieks-- they were emitting from the
front shirt pocket of a gentleman near me.  He looked at me
apologetically, and stuck a finger into the pocket.  Out hopped a
teeeeeeeeeny-tiny little yellow and orange conure!
"Say hello, Louie!" said Louie's custodian.
Louie looked rather annoyed at having been outed, tucked his head
close to his chest, and muttered a grudging little "Hello!"

I totally melted <sigh>  Sooooooooooo cute!

Years ago in Maroubra { a suburb of Sydney} there used to be an aboriginal
lady that walked around with a big bird on her shoulder, I can't remember
whether it was a Cockatiel or a Galah or a Parrot, but it never made any
attempt to move off her shoulder either, it fascinated me.  Jean.P.

LOL! I seem to remember that pumpkin seeds are actually good for cat
tummies.
