I'm keeping my fingers crossed as well. I haven't received the biopsy
results, and haven't talked to Dr Ewend since the surgery, though I've
seen Doogie a couple of times. Today is Neurosurgery day, so I won't
be seeing either of them until tomorrow at the earliest. We know the
cancer is back, but not the type and level of it.
I'm at the emotional drainage part of this. On Tuesday, I arranged
leave from school and work for the rest of the semester. I didn't
realize it could hurt so much. I also arranged for records to be sent
to the VA. Two VA reps have (independently of each other) requested
that Rob be put back on 100% temporary disability. Don't hold your
breathe waiting though. One of the reps told me that the VA moves
slower than GOD.

(snippage and certainly not because Rob's medical problems are a minor
thing)
I'm sorry Pam, but that's just funny! Doogie (as in the old TV show Doogie
Howser with Neil Patrick Harris?) It's rather disturbing (to me, at least)
when the doctors look like they should still be in high school. I'm quite
sure they have *much* more medical knowledge than I do. It still doesn't
stop me from wondering if they have to turn in an essay on Shakespeare later
in the day.

Doogie is not his real name, it's Justin, but he looks like he's 15,
wears his hair in a Neil Patrick Harris style, and has a similar voice
to Doogie. I started calling him that because he looks as young or
younger than Mandy. I tried calling him Dr J. but that didn't work
nearly as well as Doogie does. All the nurses up here know who you
mean if you ask them if they've seen Dr Doogie lately.

I think leaving school and work was a smart move on your part. Now is
not the time to be superwoman.
It's going to be emotional, whether things are good or bad. I never knew
whether to stay the night at the hospital or what to do. The doc told me
to save my strength because I would need it when he got home, and she
was right. He's going to need a lot of your time and energy when he's
back home, so do what you can to conserve energy now.
Hope you have more good news tomorrow,
Rhonda
