I do hope the neighbours weren't watching

Earlier today I opened the front door and there was Waffles, sat with vole
firmly clamped in her jaws. She did as she always does and presented her
gift to me by dropping it at my feet.

Problem is that these days, Waffles being an elderly feline, she's missing
several fangs, so the rodent population is more likely to have suffered
nothing worse than a severe gumming. This means that when I am presented
with a vole, it's usually a very alive vole.

The vole this morning was very much alive. It started to run about the
hallway. Now, I may be a middle-aged, overweight f4rt, but I am exceedingly
nimble in the rodent-chasing department.

I quickly picked the vole up, so I could put it back outside in the
undergrowth, in order that it escaped the clutches of the boycats living
here.

I was wearing a v-necked top.

Vole sat in my hand, took one look at my chesticles and leapt.

I do hope the neighbours weren't about as I was stood in the garden
rummaging about in my top trying to extract a vole from my chesticles. It
could not have been a pretty sight... [blush]

I think she's ignoring me.  Or maybe the slap she sent you was hard
enough for us both!

Oh, but I hope they *were* watching.
Everyone should start the day with a good guffaw.
Especially at one's own self.

Helen, you HAVE to write a book!

Severe gumming? That had me in stitches even before the leap.

Keep the stories coming...

Hahaha!! Could the vole have been receiving telepathic instructions
from Otis? :)

I firmly believe neighbors aren't supposed to watch anything that happens
outdoors before noon at the earliest.  Newspaper and mail retrieval should
not require full office dress.

My story and I'm sticking to it.

:-)

B*bshorts would have prevented that, of course ;-)

What does Waffles make of the PSF?

[If you want an explanation, you need to have a look at Wafflycat's
posts in uk.rec.cycling. One of her Usenet personas is the "Paving Slab
Fairy (PSF)", who dislikes bibshorts - an item of cycling attire - so
much that the PSF will slap any wearers round the head with a virtual
paving slab ;-)]

What are bibshorts? And why'd you put an asterisk in the word?

Oh the PSF stays where she velongs, in another NG. The PSF is a fictional
character who originated in a Christmas tale of uk.rec.cycling, that seems
to have a life of her own as she's always mentioned by others well before
she's mentioned by me ;-)

Do you speak French as well? "un velox" = "a bicycle" - so, riding a
bicycle = "velonging"? ;-)
