Rob's Brain...Update.  OT and not good

Rob's biopsy was the first scheduled procedure yesterday morning.  The
operation took almost four hours.  The long and short of it is that
some form of cancer is back.  The neurosurgeon thinks it is as bad,
(hopefully) or worse than what he had before.  I figure that, since Dr
Ewend is being assisted by an intern that looks like he's 15 and
accepts me calling him Doogie (his real first name is Justin) and all
the cats are purring for him, Rob has a good chance although he came
out of the anethestic with some problems finding the words he wanted
to say.  LIke before the first operation.  We're not worrying, right?
Well, he didn't improve during the day and when we left for the motel
yesterday afternoon, he was still having problems.

Morning note.  Rob's condition has deterioriated over night.  He is
not talking
at all this morning, though he responds when  you tell him to do
something like
open his eyes or take his medicines (laced with applesauce)  I
suggested that they
use Gerbers Lamb with Rice, but Rob closed his eyes and the nurse said
that she
didn't think he'd fancy that.  He tried to get out of bed to go to the
bathroom
while we were in there, so the nurse brought him a urinal.  He didn't
use it.
Earlier they'd had to do a full bed change on him.

They've done EEGs to see if he's having unseen siezures, EKG's to
check
his heart function, Xrays to check his bone matter, speach pathology
to see if he
can talk and how he is at eating soft foods, and are currently setting
him up to
go back to MRI to have his brain examined again.  I want to cry.

We have to turn in the rental van (we got a free triple upgrade)
before Monday evening, so I will be able to keep it if I need to.  I
will  have to update the insurance on it though.  They may have our
car ready today, and if that is the case, I'll trade the van for the
car.  Mike won't like it, but oh well.  I'm coming back to be with Rob
and I have to cut costs where I can.

Please keep the purrs and prayers coming.  I hate seeing him lay on
the bed, so unresponsive and docile.  I feel so alone.

Oh hon. *Hugs*. There are so many purrs coming your way, if they were drops
of water you'd be surfing by now. Shmogg is purring, Fluff is wagging and
drooling,a nd even Cary sends hugs & kisses (they are exceptionally rare
things)

And whilst I know you *feel* alone, there are lots of people all over the
world who are standing shoulder to shoulder with you in the power of purr.

Don't give up. And if you need to talk to someone in the dead of night.. let
me know, Ok?

*Hugs*, *prayers*, *purrs*.

Purrs and prayers and a lit candle to remind me to keep up the prayers.

Praying for whatever is best for all concerned and for strength for you all.

Cry when you need to as much as you need to.  Its human, and your feelings
are the greatest strength you have right now.

Oh, Pam, you certainly have all the purrs available from
this source!  I know I don't post responses to all your
messages, but you and Rob certainly have my sympathy.  You
have both been so brave through this long ordeal, we can all
pray for another (and permanent) remission, however unlikely
the medical professionals may believe it to be!

(((((Pam))))) Our hopes, purrs, and purrayers are coming for you, Rob, and
the kids.  I hope they can come up with a treatment plan that can bring some
relief.  I have a close friend whose husband has just undergone gamma knife
treatments in California and they are waiting to see what effect it will
have.  There's another treatment called tomotherapy
(http://www.tomotherapy.com/patient/process/ )that he had earlier; don't
know if that is an option for Rob or not either.
Please know we are thinking of you all and sending you all our love and
support.

Pam -

I wish there was something else I could do besides just send my best
wishes and the fur kids purrs!  My deepest sympathies for what you,
Rob, and the rest of your family are having to deal with.  I'll continue
to hope that somehow things will turn around and improve for all of you.
I'll go make sure I give lots of extra skritches to the Fairfax Fur
Factory so they'll be in top purring form.  If I do it right, I can
even get Hazard and Katie to drool while they're purring, which
amplifies the purring power a bit more (Tripper's just too hung up
to drool...).

Good thoughts, purrs, and anything else that might help -

Chris, Tripper, Katie and Hazard

feeling right now, but post anytime you need to - you are not alone

Mega purrs for Rob to recover from the biopsy!  And also, for them to
be able to do something for the new growth.  I can hardly imagine how
it must be for you, Pam.

I'm so sorry, Pam.  You're not totally alone, as you have us and a
small army  of purrers rooting for Rob.  Although I imagine that feels
like a feeble defense right now.  May Rob pull through this yet again!
And you too, of course.
