Pestiferous as in particularly bothersome, teasing, persistent, demanding,
inconvenient, etc - Chessie is absolutely determined to sit on me (any
spot!) when I'm at the computer.  Obedient slave that I am, it works 99
times out of 100 and on the rare occasions when persistence fails, she sits
on the monitor with her tail sweeping across the screen like a windshield
wiper.  To be fair, I should add neither Chessie nor Nikki step on the
keyboard, they carefully avoid it.
I do a lot of volunteer genealogy lookups and the furkids "help".  Am
planning to add them to my own family history database and let future
generations wonder...............Lorna (& the Chesniks)

Here, it's LB who insists on helping when on the computer. Sammy is
the one who has to go into the bathroom with me. She learned that it's
the perfect "fetch stadium". Reason being that if I'm on the throne I
can toss the cap clear across the bedroom (assuming the bathroom door
is open, of course). So, if I take a seat, she usually shows up
carrying a cap, which I throw over the bed next to the window. She
flies across the room, up across the bed, and dives over the far side.
Of course this sometimes causes problems, as the bedroom window is
south facing, and a prime sunny nap spot. On more than one occasion
I've tossed the cap, Sammy dives over the far side of the bed, and LB
has to take evasive action by darting under the bed. When that
happens, LB comes and sits on the near side of the bed where she can
give me a death glare, before heading in to nap by the patio glass
door.

Doesn't/didn't someone here have a cat whose actual name is/was Pestiferous?

"The Chesniks" - that's really clever. And very fair. :)

We haven't had that problem since we bought our new computer with a flat
panel monitor... :)
The cats sure miss the warmest spot on the house though...

I really, really want a flat panel minitor but keep wondering how traumatic
it might be for Chessie & Nikki - I envision them jumping up and falling
behind the screen over, and over, and over..........Lorna & the Chesniks

When I got mine, Stinky had to look behind it a couple of times.  But
he adjusted. ;)

My computer desk provides easy access between the kitchen counter and
the back window.  He walks back and forth between them without ever
touching the floor. :P

Hmm, now that I think of it, Stinky is hardly *ever* on the floor.;)
Except at night when he is chasing greeblings and mousies-- or when I
do yoga, and he jumps down to show me how to do it right. ;)

Smokey "helps" with the home renovations. Cali used to help with the renos
in her younger days. She would follow me everywhere, dare I say almost d*g
like. Then she decided I wasn't so special after all. :)
