Romeo (the tux) and Buckwheat. They were street toms until 4 weeks ago. An
elderly lady was feeding Buckwheat so he was much more people oriented. Two
gals who do private rescue work nabbed and neutered them. Someone who knew
them told my brother about htem when he expressed wanting some cats. They
did not have kittens they said, but they had these two adult strays. He was
quite happy to take them. They have not been aggressive to each other since
he brought them home but Romeo has spent most of the last two weeks in the
closet. Buckwheat just made himself at home right away. Romeo finally came
out and sat on Mike's lap for a few minutes yesterday and this morning I got
this note:

Romeo came out and actually slept with me for a while last night. He is out
today and actually getting near Buckwheat. Still a little tension when BW
gets too inquisitive. But it is progress.

And he got photos too, so I would say this is very good progress. I think
they are very cute and he sounds happier than I have heard him for a while.

I love to hear stories like this.  I'm sure they will be at least as good
for him as he is for them.  I'm glad I finally learned that a kitten isn't
the only way to get a cat.

Oh how lucky your brother and the kitties were to find each other. Looks
like a cosy household.

They're both gorgeous. Glad that Romeo is coming out of his shell.

I used to volunteer for a no kill shelter that exclusively took in stray
cats: no unwanted pets, etc. Some, perhaps most were dumped, but we
never knew. It's hard to adopt out adult cats!

Anyway, I always love to read stories (and see pics!!!!) of former
strays who have found their one true home.

I'm so happy for everyone: you brother, the two kitties, the elderly
lady who was kind enough to feed Buckwheat. Everyone wins!

Many years of cuddles and purrs.
They're probably glad to have safe haven and regular food.
