I just dropped off Annie at the vet's.  She's 12 yrs old and about a
month ago she started not eating as much and I noticed she was licking
her lips / making a smacking sound.

We knew she needed her teeth cleaned but the vet I was going to said
the licking of the lips indicated nausea so she put her on an anti-
nausea pill.  That didn't help so she tried a pill to settle the
stomach acid.

Annie wasn't throwing up, she did act like the smell of food made her
sick to her stomach.

I saw another vet who prescribed an antihistamine, which did kick
start her appetite a bit.  She still wasn't eating very much but at
least she came out at meal time, wanting to try to eat.

It was about 2 or 3 weeks after the initial visit that I realized it
was her teeth.  When she ate, she acted like she had peanut butter in
her mouth.

She was originally scheduled to go in Fri. for a cleaning and
examination of the teeth.  This was the earliest appointment I could
get.  Then when I was home yesterday, I noticed blood around her mouth
and phoned the vet, begging to get her in sooner.  They agreed to take
her this morning.  The bad weather we're having caused a number of
cancellations so they have time to do whatever she needs.

I had never met the vet who will be doing the procedure before today.
She comes highly recommended from a friend.  She looked in Annie's
mouth and saw a growth under her tongue.  My original vet didn't see
that, unless it just recently appeared.  So they will do the teeth
cleaning, pull teeth if necessary, and biopsy the growth.

I kept telling Annie all night that she was going to feel better after
today.  So please purr for a quick recovery.

Thank goodness I learned about Care Credit.  Now I can stop putting my
pets' vet bills on my credit card.  That's another reason I am
switching to this vet.  The other vet doesn't offer this.

TIA,
Theresa

Lots of purrs on the way for Annie. Even though teeth cleaning is routine,
none of us can help worrying about the one in a thousand chance something
may go wrong. Snoopy, who'll be 17 next month will probably need her teeth
cleening in the next year or so, I'm already worrying about that.
