Could I get a personal purr or two? I'm soooo frustrated! I stupidly
attempted to install a demo program yesterday that ate my hard
drive...well at least most of it. The good news is I had a back up and I
was preparing to move from an older computer to a new one (office
system). I'm frustrated though because I can't get my old email
messages moved. I know its a matter of moving files from one location to
the next but it's not working and I'm frustrated. Maybe a calming purr
or two would help.
Thanks,
Julie

Calming and "ruddy useless get better now computer" purrs coming right up.
Tweed (had computer probs a while ago.)
Only the thought I'd have to replace double glazing at a huge cost stopped
me from throwing it through the window ;-) ) I am fairly mild tempered,
so that tells you how bad it was.

What mail program? Drop me an email with more details and I can almost
certainly help you out. (I beta test for MS before they release software as
opposed to the rest of the world that does it after release ;-)

Calming purrs on their way. Also purrs for success, with a request.
I'm going to be getting another computer eventually, and that's what
I've been worrying about - moving those email messages. When you figure
it out, could you let me know how you did it? Well, if you're using
Outlook Express, anyway. Otherwise, your instructions probably wouldn't
help me.

Calming purrs are on the way. I went through this last week and ended
up formatting the hard drive since the backup was missing some files.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! If I could have gotten online I'd have asked for
purrs, too.

Calming purrs from Jazz that you get your new 'puter working just the way
you want it to. Do you think the demo software had a virus in it?

Aackk! Computer problems! Let me get my sacred rattle, don my suit of
eleven shrunken heads, do my computer dance, and chant horrible oaths.
I used to know how to fix things when folks were still running DOS and
Windows 3.11, but lately, with a home network, broadband, a router,
and registry files, I always try Magic first. Let me know if it does
any good.
Regards and Purrs,
O J

I've found that threatening machinery frequently works wonders. :-)
For future reference, you can get AdAware free at www.lavasoft.de ,
which does a great job on that evil spyware, and a decent anti-virus,
also free, at www.grisoft.cz . [NAYY]

I think Spybot - Search & Destroy, does a better job than AdAware. I
have both installed.

Might give that one a try sometime [AdAware is what DH put on my
system and it seems to work fine].

As an experiment, try running Spybot after running AdAware.

Thanks for the Spybot recommendation. I like it much better than I
did AdAware.

Purrs on the way for an email "resurrection". I fought through that a few
months back and ended up keeping 2 computers rather than hassling with it
any more.

Sorry for your trouble with the pooters, Julie. I'm useless with them,
so all we can do is send the geeky purrs and hope they help!
