I have a friend who is suffering from short-term memory problems and
it looks like they may have an (as yet unknown) organic cause... she's
waiting to see the neurologist and very scared, so can I please have
purrs for her?
And also, I seem to remember that one or more people on this group
posted something once upon a time about coping with short-term-memory
loss? Do you have any tips that might help her cope with her fairly
demanding new job when she's having trouble managing?

Purrs for your friend...I have terrible short-term memory, it started
after those three surgeries so close together.
Notes, notes, notes! I kept a note pad in my pocket. I still write
everything down, even if I think I won't forget it.

I've noticed short-term memory problems after all my surgeries too so it's
interesting that you said that, Sherry.
I write things down a lot too.
However, as Karen said her friend has a new very demanding job, it's worth
noting that work-related stress can also cause short-term memory problems,
amongst other things. If it turns out to have no organic cause - and I hope
so - I would seriously consider getting a less stressful job. Health is
more important than wealth.
Just my 2c worth.

Purrs on the way that the root cause may be found and corrected.

Purrs on the way from a fellow sufferer. They still don't know what my
problems are, but I get another brain MRI next month, so I guess the
neurologist will figure where to go next after that.
Of course, those of us in the menopausal years just suffer from CRS
syndrome: Can't Remember S***. ;-)
