I've never understood this when I've heard d*g people complain about cats
this way.
Fred and I can't do anything without both boys hanging around either
intently watching or placing themselves between us and whatever we're trying
to do.
Lastnight on the dining room table where both are computers are set up, we
each had a cat sitting observing our monitors and asking for skritches.
While putting Jane to bed, both cats showed up and purred and cuddled at the
foot of her bed. Later, the kids had gone to bed and Fred and I were
sitting talking at the kitchen table. Both cats appeared, sat on the table,
and just seemed to want to be near us.
Lastnight, for the third night in a row, I had Otis on my ankles and woke up
to find a fluffy *Chester* in my arms as I snored away.
Standoffish, yeah right! Velcro might be a better way to describe it ...

No way. If you're doing something, they have to be right in the middle.
God forbid what you're doing is in the bedroom! <vbg>

Oops! Hit enter too soon.
In fact, it seems like they can't stand it if you go into another room, even
if they are asleep.

Otis used to get up from his nap and follow me all the time. Now that he's
11, he doesn't do it every time anymore ... but he still often does!

Yeah, I usually have one or two who greet me at the door when I get home at
night. (No, it's not about food). I got a serious talking to tonight. I
think Cleo was telling me about her day, but I did not understand a word.

"Cleo was telling me about her day"
Max used to do that. My son once described him as "very vocal".
He followed me everywhere. "Velcro" is good.
Cheers

I'd always been told that cats are standoffish. So how come it happened
that Persia who had never seen me before but yowled her way into my home on
January 6, 2001 wound up sleeping on a pillow above my head? And how come
she just happens to come along every time I go to the bathroom? Or come
into the computer room? Or want to watch a movie on the couch in the living
room?
Oh, sure, sometimes she goes off by herself to snooze on the comforter in
the dark closet in my office, mostly when I'm here reading and posting.
(She's never been a counter or desktop cat.) But mostly she's right there
with me when I'm at home. And if I leave for any length of time, she's
greeting me at the door even if she has food, like "Where have you been?"
And heaven forbid she doesn't get to stick her face in any of the bags if
I've gone shopping! LOL
Cats, standoffish? Yeah, right.
