Cat lovers: Some months ago I shared my loss of Max, the finest cat I ever met. MLB One of the most amazing beings I ever met. Please take spiders seriously. Max outwitted coyotes and rattlesnakes, only to be the canary in the coalmine for a brown recluse infestation. I'll never forget the perfect eye-contact when I took him back to the vet for the last time. He knew. I think I'm beginning to understand the kind of relationship you must have had with him. I can see the depth of his intelligence in his eyes, and even maybe somewhat the depth of his affection for you. A rare blessing, that one. I can't get the damn PDFs to open, so I'm unable to read anything on that site. I've always been fascinated by Mayan and Incan cultures. There was a PBS special on not too long ago about some recent discoveries. I have a friend who teaches physics at Brandeis, and who has been working on a supercollider project here and abroad for a number of years. Whenever I've asked him to explain something -- like having "found" the missing quark, for example -- his answers have always been forthcoming, precise, extensive and clear as mud. I end up feeling as though I know *less* after he explains things than I knew before. Oh well. I'll stick to teaching computer skills to seniors... Another great picture of a great cat. I think I'm sufficiently ignorant of physics that it wouldn't bother me to use "Muon" as a name, i.e., the whole decay thing wouldn't deter me. Max had a lifetime of six years. He shared the last five with me. Actually we shared the hill together with me his whole life, but he moved in when he was grown.
