The alien in Owl

Inge Grotjahn - 06 Feb 2007 18:54 GMT Dear group,
our Owl is occupied by an alien - the tongue! It lives in Owl's mouth. I noticed it first, when Owl came, as usual, for a cuddle on my lap. I was sitting on the sofa, thinking of nothing bad. He didn't forget to step on my solar-plexus. As I folded myself with a moan, the alien took control over Owl and forced him, to take my nose between his paws and start a few testing-licks.
Well, the nose must have been very good because Owl had climbed my breast by now, his face in reaching area of my nose. The alien took over immediately and mercyless. My nose got an extreme cleaning including sandblasting. Every attempt to bring my nose into safety was doomed to failure and was punished by licking it anew. No begging for mercy and no whimpering was successful. Several layers of skin falled prey to the tongue.
Now I'm sitting here at my computer with a glaring red nose and I'm happy that I don't have to buy a red nose for the upcoming carnival:-)

Caliban also kindly exfoliates the skin in my face now and then. You can take comfort in the thought that when the skin grows back on your nose, it will be nice and soft. ;)

Owl does this very often, but sometimes his tongue is very soft and sometimes his tongue is like a rasp.

Ketzl's Dad - 06 Feb 2007 22:17 GMT > Dear group, > [quoted text clipped - 18 lines] > This is how life can be... > Inge and the catgang Don't be a fool! Don't miss the opportunity to trademark this and open the first-ever Cat Lick Spa! (Careful, though: be sure people don't mistake it for Catholic Spa... although there *are* those who would join thinking of self-flagellation, I suppose). But seriously... (well, not *so* seriously), this could really CATch on and make you a lot of money.
Exfoliation by Cat. EBC (Trademark)
The only hitch is trying to train Owl (and any others) to do it on command. HA! What did I just say? I must be dreaming.

Actually, most people I know, even cat lovers, really hate being licked by cats. I don't understand that - I love it. I like that kitty tongues are scratchy and relatively dry. Relative to dogs, that is. Dog tongues are slimy - eww! (If not for the slime, I'd probably enjoy being licked by dogs - but they are, Blanche, they are.)

I like that kitty > tongues are scratchy and relatively dry. I can understand people not liking it. Ketzl, after 3 1/2 years here, has yet to lick, but my previous cat, Tux, used to lick my forearms. For me, it was a cross between pleasure and pain: that raspy tongue did tickle, but on the hair of my arm, it always became slightly irritating after about 5 minutes. Not to mention that it usually caused the spot to itch afterward. I always kept anti-itch cream on hand because I'd never discourage her from doing it, god forbid. (And what was I saying in an earlier message about self-flagellation...? :-)

Yesterday he even washed my arms for me. Good boy. :D

I dunno - this reminds me of the guy who decided to try to brush his cat's teeth using one of those little finger toothbrushes and some chicken or fish flavoured toothpaste. The cat, quite naturally, thought 'What a nice human to bring me such a tasty-smelling treat' and tried to bite off a piece.
I don't mind being licked by a cat, but I'm not sure the cat's going to get the right idea if there's food (or anything that smells like food) involved.
But they'd make great spa workers otherwise - they can do massage and acupuncture at the same time!

Jack Campin - bogus address - 07 Feb 2007 00:39 GMT > CatManiacs World: http://www.gwsystems.com/inge Inge, your site *really* doesn't work with my (non-CSS) browser (iCab 2.9.9) and in a way I've never seen before - the page you get to after the Welcome page jumps up and down and blinks.
Weirdly, iCab's error reporting says there's no problem (and it's picky about correct coding).
Do you really need whatever effect is producing that behaviour? Maybe that AccessKey thing, whatever it is?

Well, my site is valid html according to W3C and the CSS is as well. There should nothing jump up and down.
> Weirdly, iCab's error reporting says there's no problem (and it's > picky about correct coding). I agree with iCab's report. But I will post this into my Macromedia group to find a solution. The only thing on my starting page is an animated gif. The enter-button is on the picture of Tientje. To the left is the enter button for the German version, on the right side the button for the english version...

Kayla wants to lick, and she is just drippy and not slimy. She is still a baby and doesn't have bad breath. But I know I have to stop her because her breath won't always be sweet. And it is a terrible habit for a dog to get into.

Its not the tongue in his mouth that is the alien, its the nose on your face. Poor Owl is trying to figure out what that protrusion on your face is doing there. Silly hooman, you should know this.
Julie (who has been in love with Owl since he was a kitten, he's such a cutie-pie)

> Julie (who has been in love with Owl since he was a kitten, he's such a > cutie-pie) Owl is the most gentle cat I ever met. He never raised a paw against his fellow cats or us, he _always_ is in a good mood and such a cuddle-bug. Even TED loves him dearly. He said that he never met a cat which is as trustful as Owl. Such a good and happy boy he is...
