Are all the RPCA cats and their folks south of Perth OK?  Britta, I'm
thinking particularly of you.

For the benefit of the rest of the world, there have been fairly big
bushfires south of Perth for the last few days. In my geographical
ineptitude, I'm unsure how close the fires are to where Britta, Dennis
and Vino live.

Hi all
Can't speak for Britta, but there aren't any news reports of fires as
far south as Margaret River, which is about 275Km south of Perth.
News reports say the fires at the moment are near Forrestdale (an
outlying suburb of Perth), Mandurah area (about 50Km south) and
Dwellingup (about 100 Km south). Several houses and farm buildings have
been lost, and at least one person has been killed. If you can spare a
few purrs for those in the path of the fires, please rev them up.
Thankfully my furry fellows are safe and sound and on the job.

Wow, I'm so out of touch, I hadn't even heard a thing about this.  I've
been working 7 days straight and by the time I get home the local news
is over.  Needless to say it's not anywhere near here.
But many purrs for all involved.  Bushfires suck.

Strange isn't it, bushfires at your end and we are being flooded in up here.
That's Australia for you.

Yeah, tell me about it!  This girl at work decided to take an impromptu
holiday to Townsville for 2 weeks to visit her boyfriend.  I don't think
the flooding had happened yet when she left, but by the time she got
there, it wasn't so good!  Her boyfriend is in the army, I bet he will
be busy helping in relief efforts as well, so I doubt they will see each
other that much.  What a bummer for her.  But purrs for all affected by
the flooding.

Thats very disappointing for them. It's a nuisance as while cyclone 1 is
heading out to sea, cyclone 2 is pushing overland from behind us, to dump
lots more rain on poor old Innisfail and Tully. Most of the people there
haven't yet had everything repaired from last year. The rain is now rotting
the exposed portions of houses, so houses that should have been saved are
now going to have to be demolished. Very sad.
