I was sitting at the computer and was turning up my shirt sleeve on my right
arm and was looking at what I was doing. The next thing I feel something
touch my leg and I jumped and Samwise jumped. He had come up on the extra
chair on my left side and was going to get on my lap.
After 5 minutes of telling him I'm sorry for scarring him he came back to
sit with me.

Aww, poor scaredy-cat. I know how it feels - I have one of my own! If
I didn't feel bad for scaring my kitty, I'd find some of the things that
happen comical. Like both human and cat being startled by each other.
I know it was just a typo, but I can't resist the pun: you scared him, but
you didn't scar him! He's over it by now, I'm sure. :)

When I've been sitting at my computer for too long (using cat logic, of
course) I frequently feel a gently bump against my calf. Just one. I look
down, and there's that face. Time for a break!

I think we all know what you mean about "that face". It is hard to
resist large golden, orange, green, black, or blue eyes on a furry
face.

Molly and I go through this all the time. She is so very easily startled.
And I seem to be very good at no matter how careful I try to be.
Two days ago I nearly trapped her under the new recliner. Didn't hurt her,
and probably upset me nearly as much as it did her. She got out right after
that and if it hadn't been so cold out I'm not sure how long it would have
taken for her to get the nerve to come back in.
But she adores the boys and will always come in for them.
Its all good. Some days she is the only living thing on earth that is happy
to see Steven. Being a seventeen year old boy can be so very hard, but she
loves him no matter what. So do we, but we do get upset with him and she
doesn't.

She's a wonderful creature.

I always feel so guilty when I scare them. Luckily they get over it fast. :D

Aww, I'm glad he forgave you. My cats are rarely startled by me, but
Miranda has become an expert at startling Caliban. I've seen her do it;
she does it on purpose. She creeps up behind him, then she suddenly
dashes past him at close range. Caliban's tail goes poof and I hear his
claws grappling the floor as he tries not to keel over in fright. She's
such a typical big sister.

He's a sweetie. I used to keep a spare chair next to my computer
chair, but then I found that my lap would be occupied 100% of the
time, and I would never be able to get up to do anything.
