A Yehudah Moment in the Cook Household

Since I have a moment to post, I thought I'd tell this story.  Some
incidents that happen in my house (which usually involve Barnabus) cause
me to scratch my head, burst out laughing and say, "That could only have
happened to Dave Yehudah!".  So this will be a DY post which is as bad
as a BW post, I suspect.

Our dining room table is sort of a "catch all" for things we carry into
the house from the cars.  We open the door leading from the garage into
the kitchen, go into the dining room where we deposit our armload of
things and proceed into the hallway to turn off the security alarm.  I
did exactly that on Monday and dropped my purse as well as a pink,
plastic shopping bag which contained a stuffed bear.  Barnabus loves
bags, especially plastic bags and he has to investigate every bag that
comes into the house.  So Monday evening I'm watching 24 when Barnabus
jumped onto the table to investigate the bag (which I didn't notice,
btw).  Now the only thing I can figure out that happened is Barnabus
tried to get into the bag with the bear and accidentally knocked my
purse off of the table.  The noise of my purse falling scared him badly
enough that he tried to back out of the plastic bag and run at the same
time.

There was only one small problem with this.  As I mentioned, in the bag
was a stuffed bear. This is a cute white bear with a purple feather boa
and a floppy red hat, named Ashley.  When you press her paw she sings
"Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"; very loudly, according to my husband.  You
guessed it, when Barnabus tried to back out of the bag he must have
stepped on Ashley's paw and suddenly this plastic bag started singing.
Barnabus has never had a bag sing to him before.  In the split second it
took me to turn my head it was all over.  My purse was lying on the
floor, the singing bag was lying in the kitchen against a litterbox
(about 25' from the table) and Barnabus was in the hallway,at the
opposite end of the house, peaking around a bookcase, his eyes as big as
saucers.

I managed to stop laughing long enough to silence the offending bag and
put it back on the table and reassure Barnabus that he hadn't done
anything wrong.  I'm not sure I was able to convince him that I wasn't
laughing at him.

ROTFLOL!  You're right - that was definitely a Yehudah moment.

From your description of the bear, I have to ask, are you a Red Hatter?

Well, *I'm* laughing!  That is too funny.  I can just imagine the look
on Barnabus' face at the "Singing Bag".  RofL!

Julie,

That was truly inspired.

I will chuckle over the image of Barnabus and the singing bag for a long
time.  Dave would be proud.  Gee, I miss him.

(LOL) I have to laugh silently so Miranda doesn't think I'm laughing at
her boyfriend, though I am. Poor Barnabus! Do you think he will lay off
plastic bags now? No, I didn't think so. He's a lot like Caliban. Never
learns from his mistakes.

Awww, Poor Barnabus!  Was his tail poofy, too? ;)

Definately a Yehudah moment.  I have a bear on my monitor that moves and
cries when you touch his paw.  The cats no longer sit on the monitor...  :-)
