Gilbert in my youngest grandson's cat. He is a great big grey boy who lives
to snuggle with his kid and his mom.
When my daughter came to pick up her son tonight, she told me that Gilbert
is sick and probably won't make it. He has a urinary blockage, and a
catheter hasn't helped. Apparently a combination of a very large male cat
and small bladder and urethra that blocks. The next step would be very
expensive surgery that does not have a very good rate of success.
My grandson, Ryan is of course very upset. He has lost pets before, but
never one that was this much his. This is the cat that is always there to
hug and love even when the rest of the world isn't going his way. For that
matter I think my daughter feels Gilbert has been the only one there for her
when she has had problems too.
So purrs please for Gilbert. And for Vicki and Ryan as well.

Oh, poor Gilbert. I really hope he pulls through! How heartbreaking if
he doesn't. It's hard enough to lose a beloved pet when you're an adult,
but when you're a kid it's just so much worse. (At least, that has been
my experience.)

Definitely sending purrs for a good outcome! Tripper has had
blockages and crystal problems, and has recovered well from those.
Two of my parents' cats have also had urinary tract blockages, and
have made it through, including one complicated catheterization that
didn't work initially.
Purrs that Gilbert turns out to be another survivor, and stays around
to keep Ryan company for years to come, and purrs of comfort for Vicki
and Ryan, as well.

Purrs for Gilbert and Vicki and Ryan, too. I really hope Gilbert can
make it. I've had two cats with blockages, and it is a very scary
thing. This is one thing I think all cat lovers should know about,
because it can be so deadly within a matter of a day or so. Having gone
through it with Mojo (RB), I knew right away what was going on with
Brando, and got him into the ER ASAP. And thanks to you guys, I was
able to pay for it.
Here's hoping Gilbert makes it through. A miracle would be nice about now.

That's wonderful news. I was almost afraid to read your post, it sounded
so hopeless yesterday.
Britta probably knows everything there is to know about nursing a cat
back to health after he's had a urinary blockage! It sounded like a long

Way to go Gilbert!
Furballs in full purr mode that he gets better and never has to visit
the TED again! (I am never sure who dreads those visits more Sarsi or
the TED. Dunzi just goes into some sort of trance and pretends nothing
is happening but Sarsi as befits "Punk rocker in a previous existence"
goes rather mad)

You see? Purrs can really work even when all hope seems to be lost. I
firmly believe that the purrs sent helped me recover from what I was told
was a terminal illness. I don't think I would be here now if I hadn't got
those purrs and prayers.
