How is Hobbes sans insulin?  Did you get test results yet?  It's a
short time but I wondered if there was any noticeable effect in
withdrawing the insulin.  Thanks.

Sorry, I am way behind again. Hobbes seems to be doing fine without
insulin at the moment.  His urinalysis came back clean. The fructosamine
results were in the low 400's.  The vet told me this was a little high
but that at this point they've kept cats on insulin only to have them
get hypoglycemic and she didn't want that to happen.  Considering that
he had a clean urine and blood analysis and that I've noticed reduced
water intake and output we're going to go without the insulin.  I really
haven't noticed any effect of the withdrawal.  Of course Hobbes is very
overweight so he's not an active cat. He also has issues with his teeth
and he's had bleeding gums, so he's not feeling terrific. I've been
given a water additive to try to help with the infection in his gums.
Because of his weight they're hesitant to use anesthesia due to
potential of breathing problems.  Until I can get some weight down we're
using this water additive (sorry, I'm at work and can't remember the
name).  At this time, I'm just keeping a very close eye on him. I
thought I'd do a glucose curve this coming weekend to make sure things
are looking all right.

Thanks for asking,
Julie
