The very first thing that I noticed when I walked in from work this morning
was that Skimbleshanks didn't greet me at the door like he always does. It
only took a moment to find him. He was in the kitchen with the rest of the
gang, standing at his "dining spot", looking very annoyed. It hit me then
that Skimbleshanks isn't a kitten anymore. He's already 6 months old, or
thereabouts (hard to tell an exact age when they just show up one day on a
train). My "little kitten" already stands as tall as Mischief, although he
isn't nearly as heavy.
Now, instead of bouncing happily when I set out their bowls, he gives me
that cat look that means "this isn't rocket science, open the tin already!!"
So now, instead of having a bouncy, zipping around the house bestest buddy
kitten, I have yet another Master of the house, demanding and supremely
confident. But, I suppose I can live with it, I always do.....you'd think I
would know better by now.

Stosh's kittenhood was over the day he discovered The Archie Chair, named after
Archie Bunker because Stosh won't let anyone sit in it. He went from being a
little boy to a huge cat overnight, it seemed. Or maybe a prince becomes a king
upon discovering his throne.
Blessed be,

You scared me Mike. I thought it meant he'd died. And I thought, oh no, not
another one, how much more can we take?

Whew! What a relief! I thought I was going to read another tragic message
about a kitten that had gone to RB.

Geez, I am so sorry. I didn't even realize until I re-read my own post this
afternoon just how that sounded. I'm going to have to make a point of not
posting at the end of a 14 hour workday.

He's not *really* gone, anyway. He's six months old? What you have
there is just a bigger, stronger, more cunning hoolikitten. ;)

The heading had me scared, and I almost skipped the post.
It's always sad watching the little ones grow up...

Hey! Given the recent news on the group, please be a bit more careful with
post subjects. I thought there was tragic news coming. So glad to hear its
just "graduation".

Want some bitties? Kumani and Tyche are 15 and a half months old and
STILL doing things like following DP (their MomDad) around the house,
and sleeping on us at night, and licking the lamps and pulling socks
out of my drawer and jumping in the shower and running around the
house like fools and chewing each other's ears....it's like they're
eternally trapped in kittenhood even though they're physically adults.

Sounds like my Sammy, who is almost as playful now as she was as a
kitten. I say almost because there was a time when she played "fetch
the bottle cap" all out for 30-45 minutes at a time every time I
opened a bottle. When she got to about 2 years old she started
slowing down a little. Now, at 3 (she'll be 4 in Janurary), she's
still right there when I open a bottle. Biggest difference is that she
doesn't always actually want to ply, and when she does it's a shorter
game and she runs after the cap and walks back. If I don't want to
play I either have to muffle the sound of the bottle opening, or open
it outside. Even this doesn't always work, since she supervises me
pretty closely and watches whenever I open the fridge.
LB, OTOH, has never been much for playing, even though she's only 10
months older than Sam
