Pippin is Put Out

I've mentioned the little grey boycat (I'll call him Little Grey,
or LG) who is now visiting our premises regularly from the up the
street. Pippin is Not Pleased. They get into screaming matches and
occasional tussles if Pippin is outside with him. LG has the audacity
to pace our deck railing, and to sit on the deck chairs as if he owns
the place.  I've taken to squirting him with a spray bottle when he
comes right up to the back door, but now he stays just out of squirting
range.

When Pippin sees him from inside, he starts up a grumbly moan and
follows LG from window to window. If there is a window shade/blind in
his way, he will push it aside to hurl his insults to the glass.

This Saturday the experience wore him out, so he passed out on top of
the sofa back cushion he was using to see out of the window (Mithu
loves sleeping there, but I've never seen Pippin do it).

This morning I was preparing breakfast when I heard the grumbly moan
coming from the dining room. There was Pippin on a chair in the bay
window.  I looked out the window to see what he was fussing about, and
sure enough, across the street in someone else's yard, is LG!  Pippin
followed him from room to room to front door and back again, moaning
the whole time and thrashing his tail.

I feel a turf war coming on, or at least a great deal of sound and
fury.

Cheers,

Well of course Pippin has to defend his turf against the interloper! Go
Pippin! (And purrs for your nerves if he keeps up his growling.)

Sam was that way.  Had to defend his turf.  Problems were if he could see it
he considered it his.  And he was outside a lot.

Yep, Persia (strictly indoor cat) cannot *stand* to see another cat on the
patio.  Most of you know the story of her tumbling right through the screen
door on my sliding door one night when she spotted another cat out there.
That's why there's a baby gate wedged between the screen and the glass door
now :)  This way I can enjoy fresh air in nice weather without fear of
Persia winding up on the wrong side of the door.
