Kitty Dance

Our cat Shelby has started doing the funniest hopping dance around our new
robot vacuum. We decided to get one of those roomba discoveries and it's
really great, but Shelby kind of hunches his back and starts doing the pogo
anytime the vacuum goes near him. It's not like he's locked in a room with
the robot. He can leave at any time, but he prefers to watch it while
constantly leaping straight into the air. If he hears the thing vacuuming,
the cat will come into the room where the robot's at work and then start
hopping. Our son loves it and is constantly asking me to "make the kitty
dance."

Obviously the Robot Vacuum needs constant supervision, Frieda. =o) Shelby
sees it as his DUTY to protect you from the monster you've purchased and
brought into your home, even though he's afraid of it.

ROFL!  I'd love to see that.  I've been eyeing a roomba - is it as
loud as a regular vacuum?  I'd love to see Tallulah and Hubert's
reactions to one.

Heh...we get the kitty dance every morning, WITH a song, as Smokey
does the four-step around the bed howling at the horrific memory of
the sight of the bottom of the food bowl.  If we're slow to wake, we
get danced ON.

Poor Shelby--I have to laugh at the thought.  Get pics@!

Our Roomba is a lot quieter than our regular vacuum. That thing sends
Shelby up the bookshelf. So much for our valiant hero protecting us from
the evil electronic beasts. :0)

I find myself wondering how my girls would react. LB always seems to
be afraid of new things, but often ignores the regular vacuum. So, I
don't know if she'd ignore it or be afraid. Sammy hates the regular
vacuum, she gets all bushy tails and climbs as high as she can while
supervising. I think, if it's not too loud, Sammy may think of the
roomba as a toy to be pounced upon.

I had some concerns about Shelby too, but the Roomba has a safety shut
off if it's flipped or someone picks it up. I don't think I would have
bought it if it didn't because our son is also a rather curious
creature. :0)
