Trudi is a tiny girl, 8 pounds on a fat day. She has never been very active
or "kitteny" We found out that her stillness and cranky demeanor is
probably due to the fact that she has more than one Beebe in her back half.
She has been with us since she was around 8/12 weeks old. She has never
shown much interest in toys or even nip, the occasional fight with the
turboscratcher is a big adventure for her. Until today... or until we went
to the after Christmas sale...
I bought a tablecloth and place mats for very cheap to see how well it would
work to keep them on the dining room table. I figured if they got killed
five dollars to figure that out would be fine... so we brought them home and
put them on... and every cat in our house has had a grand time using the
tablecloth for a cave attack toy... up to 4 cats at a time on table and
under table playing... but not Trudi...
Most of you know I can't see, and so do the cats... when I walked by the
dining room table just a bit ago there was noise, and playing so I figured
it was Chester so I went to grab him to pick him up and pet him... and of
course pick up the place mats which have been mysteriously showing up on the
floor with no paw prints...
When I reach for Chester he reaches back no matter what he is doing and no
paws greeted my hands, so I leaned forward and there was Trudi the "I DON'T
PLAY" cat, killing a place mat, she was subduing it and froze when I touched
her, kinda like "BUSTED" I totally cracked up.

Frank gets under the tablecloth to pout whenever he's been scolded, or
is otherwise mad. It just annoys Boots, and she jumps on him. Like
"stop being so stupid, what the hell is wrong with you?" He's done it
for most of his 9 years. For about 20 minutes, there's this big lump
under the tablecloth, and I suspect he thinks we don't know where he
is.

Awww! She was just waiting for the Right Toy. :)
Glad to hear she found out how to have some fun.

it has always bothered me that she didn't play, she is a happy cat, and has
a purr so loud you can hear it across a room, just not physically active so
this was a real shocker, Lee

LOL! Mir and Cal love it when I change the table cloth. They always go
to burrow under it and attack each other through the table cloth. If I
used place mats, I know that Mir would be the one killing them. She has
to kill all new cloth items, like my bathroom rug and the blankie I put
in her carrier. My Mum had knitted me a pair of mittens for Yule, and
Mir killed those, too.

Great story! Thanks. Soncek loves to hide under a tablecloth.
Best wishes,
Polonca and Soncek
