Oh, that's great!!!  I just checked it out and nothing much in the way
of animals but the bug sounds really got Lucy's interest!  She was
checking around the back of the monitor to see if there were any
interesting buggy things back there.

I've yet to see any animals, other than a couple of turkey vulture looking
birds. The bugs sure were noisy just now though. (4:19 Africa Time). We need
to get an AfricaCam hotline going so I can see something interesting. :-)

I saw a water buffalo lying down the first time I looked (several days ago),
and once there were some birds.  Other than that, I haven't seen anything
either.

About this "Africa Time" thing. (I know you didn't make that phrase up -
it says that right on the home page.) What's up with that? Africa is a
huge continent - I'm sure it must have more than one time zone!

LOL! I have a friend who absolutely refuses to go out and watch for
shooting stars during comet showers, because "I never see anything!"

Maybe here, Africa is short for South Africa, which I think has only one
time zone.

I love watching it, even if there are no animals in view. Just the fact
that the sun is shining. Finland is in the same time zone, but it's
still pitch dark here at this time (6.30-ish), while the sun is shining
down there.

Oh, that's interesting! That must be pretty weird.

I love to watch and listen no matter what is or isn't happening on the
screen, too.

I noticed that, too.  I think it's probably just so we would all know what
the local time was in that location and not have try to figure out which
time zone it actually is.

Lots of giraffes right now!  (5:12 a.m. Africa time; 9:12 p.m. Central Time)

Hey! 9:12pm Central is the same as 7:12pm Pacific - which was *four* minutes
ago. So I quickly went to the site - but no giraffes. Those guys move fast!

They are still there.  Look at the trees at the back of the screen -- the
giraffes are very small from a distance, but the camera will probably move
in for some closeups.

One time I logged on a couple of days ago the first thing I saw was an
elephant having a poo. ;-)

Doesn't work for me (Firefox on MacOS X Panther) - says "initializing
media" or something like that and just sits there with a black screen.

What's the trick?

Using Safari on OS X Tiger, I had to download the latest Flip4Mac from
the M$/mac website and this will then cause the cam stream (which is
WMV-compatible only!) to be auto-loaded in QuickTime Player when you
visit the Nkorho stream page. It took a while to load up and for images
to start streaming but it got there eventually.

Mine moves from initializing to "connection" -- and a good picture -- in
only a couple of seconds.  I am using Win XP-home edition.  I also have a
couple of "players" installed (Windows Media and RealOne).

Have you tried going to the http://www.africam.com/ site and clicking on
Nkorho Stream on the left? I like that interface better than the one at
the link originally posted. I don't use a Mac, though.

Under Windows XP, Firefox gave me the audio, but no picture, only the
"initializing media" message.  Internet Explorer gave me both the
audio and the picture.
