It's a type of litter box. It's supposed to be self-washing and
self-flushing. You can see a picture here:

Personally, I'm skeptical. Moreover, I don't find it to be a large chore
using the "traditional" method of scooping. On the other hand, there is a
particular type of litter scoop that I *really* like. It is called
Litter-Lifter and sells for $6.95. It doesn't look much different in the
picture, but the "tines" are wedge-shaped, so clean litter simply drops
through without shaking. As a result, clumps are easily lifted out and do
not break or disintegrate. I find that I only need to do a complete change
of litter about 1/3 or 1/4 as often as with other scoops I used.

Thanks, MaryL. I'm skeptical too. It doesn't look like something a cat
would use. It's shaped wrong. A cat needs a litter box that is longer than
it is wide. Besides, you can scoop a lot of litter for $300!

Maintaining traditional litterboxes for me just isn't a big deal. I
scoop every morning, add litter when it gets low, but only actually do
a complete change & wash the boxes about once a month. Incidentally, I
also have the scoop Mary describes. It's really amazing how a simple
design change really does make the tool so much more efficient.
