In the past 2 days I must have called over 20 shelters looking for a place
for the mother cat and 3 kittens. All the places I've heard back from are
full. I don't know what to do any more. DH has offered to make a cage to
keep them in in a spare room, but I think I'm getting into more than I can
handle. It is just so frustrating that no one has room for them. I'm afraid
I may have to make the decision to take them to the pound where I know they
will be put to sleep.

Purrs continuing that you'll be able to find some other solution.

I did get a call from one place that was going to have the lady that places
cats call me. In 2 and 1/2 weeks I've become attached to the kitten and
don't really want to have them put to sleep. I might go ahead and have DH
make the cage for them. Thanks for the purrs.

It's amazing how they worm their way into our hearts when we're not
looking. I certainly didn't want any cats when I let LB in out of the
cold ;-)

Even if you don't end up keeping any of them, if your DH makes the
cage you'll be able to further their socialization, which will make be
more adoptable in the future. And, of course while they're being
socialized you'll know they're safe and eating right.

The shelter didn't call me back but ,Wednesday night I had a message from
another place and I called her back. We must have talked for half an hour.
Thursday morning she is going to call around and try to find a foster home
for them. She is also going to make a poster using pictures I took of them
to put up at a local pet expo she has a booth at. The adopt  a lot of cats
from the event and a foster family could be found this way. I am starting to
feel hopeful that they will be place. Tuesday night I just felt so helpless
after making so many calls and not getting any calls back. I also have an
offer from someone on line for information on how to  socialize the kittens
if I have to keep them.
Thanks every one for all the encouragement and purrs that they will find a
home.

Purr, purr, purr, purr.  I have a shelter refugee, a former feral and
two garbage-pile kittens....

Well, they will probably become aclimated to humans much faster if DH does
that. You could try adopting them out directly from you?

Ann, I sent you an email on this; let me know if you don't get it.

I wish there was something I could do to help, but all we can do is send
hang-in-there purrs. I really hope you can find a solution.

We're sending purrs that a solution will present itself.  I know you'd
thought about keeping one of the kittens, but I don't remember how
many there are altogether, and of course I don't know whether that
would be too many for you to be able to keep.  Can your vet offer any
suggestions?
