I've spent my entire adult life with cats and dogs. But the dogs were
pretty much benign.
Now I know to be careful if you mess with a cat. If your cat is unhappy, it
is a good idea to check inside your shoes before you put them on, watch your
step around the house and say good-by to a favorite piece of furniture.
We learned Friday that Kayla has mange that required an ointment to be put
on it twice a day. The vet demonstrated Friday and she didn't even flinch.
He also took a skin biopsy and she stood still for that as well.
Saturday, I got the ointment out and opened it. Kayla gave me a look and
hightailed it behind the recliner. I took a sniff of the stuff and didn't
notice any particular odor, but I know her nose is better than mine any day.
So we dragged her out for her treatments Saturday.
This morning after her usual routine, I put the ointment on. Soon after
that she went back into her crate to take a nap. (this is unheard of, she
only goes in there on command and at night) But we all had a very late
night last night, so I crashed on the sofa to get a little extra sleep
myself.
A few hours later, Kayla comes over, very happy to see me and to wake me up.
Jumps on top of me and starts sniffing and snuggling like I've been away for
days. Or like she does if she is in trouble with her daddy. But she is
being awfully persistent about it. Then I realize what she is intent on, is
rubbing the top of her head where I put the ointment on my face. Guess
what, now I can smell it. It has a sort of pine scent. It also burns a
bit, especially as she is making sure to rub across my eyes. Then she
proceeds, acting perfectly innocent to really cuddle. Guess what? I've
been furred! When she was satisfied I had fur all over my pajamas, all over
my blanket and all over me. I had to go take a second shower and the PJs
and the blanket are headed for the wash.
Never mess with a Border Collie.

I'm sorry but I do find this extremely funny, could have something to do
with the fact that I've been drinking. Purrs for Kayla's mange to clear up
asap and that she stops sharing her ointment.

I just hope she doesn't also share her mange!

She can't since I'm not a newborn puppy. Thank heaven it is species
specific.
I thought it was pretty funny too once I had a shower and got into some
clean clothes.
She sure figured out how to let me know why she doesn't like the stuff. And
to be extremely careful not to get it into her eyes.

I am completely sober while reading this, and I thought it funny, too.
What a smart d*ggie!

Well she showed you. Maybe it's also an old grudge for putting too many
syllables in her name. Border Collie tradition and all.

When I left home I took my dog with me. My mother was so upset to lose the
dog <g, not me, obviously!> that she fell into a depression.
I was torn. I wanted my dog myself, after all she was mine and we'd done
lots of things together and were close.
It was a hard decision.
I decided to let my mother have my dog live with her.
I don't think I'd do it again. I missed her desperately and questioned why
I put someone else's needs before my own.

FWIW she just gets called Kay more often than not. Most of her ancestors
have proper BC names.
