Hey. It's been forever since I've posted though I pop in and catch
myself up every so often. My puter's been up and down...as have health
and life in general.LOL
My Punkers is getting up in years and is faded and creaky. Her kidneys
are failing and she has gone from 12 to 8lbs.--she hates that food. I
try to sweeten her days and make sure she's warm and cosy during this
blustery winter. sigh.....
Well, I know who to come to when I have a question. I'm curious about
an antibiotic called Metronizazole and it's use for cats. Why would it
appear to amazingly clear up a nasty, chronic respritory/sinus
infection when nothing else would? It seems to be for intestinal
problems. I see it being used for salt water fish (???). My own vet
prefers not to use it because of side effects she says, but With the
holidays I haven't had a chance to talk to her about it. Anyways,
thanks for anything you can clear up for me!

I thought that drug was a fungicide not an antibiotic?

Hi Pat,
We had a diabetic cat who had bouts of pancreatitus. Metronidazole was
usually the antibiotic he received during those times when his pancreas,
etc. were inflamed. I looked up the website below. Here is a quote from it:
-----------------------------------------
Metronidazole is an antibiotic which is commonly used to treat protozoal
infections and anaerobic bacterial infections. It also has
anti-inflammatory effects in the bowel.

There's much more info on the website if you are interested.
Good luck with your Punkers,
Rhonda
