The late President Ford passed away Tuesday evening.
Prayers and purrs go out to his family.

Bummer. I really liked Gerry. He was one of those presidents who not only
did something useful, but had a sense of humor.

I liked him too, plus he was raised in Michigan like me.

At least he managed to be the longest lived president so far. I'm sorry he
died, I'm sorry when anyone dies, but 91 is a good age.

If you're still mobile and have most of your wits about you, I agree.
After Christmas dinner at the family's, I'm thinking I don't want to be
91 though.
As a President, I did like him. I guess I'm enough like Pammy that I
appreciate a sense of humor.

Except when you are 90 and eleven-twelfths and then you say "S%^&*?~
" Is this it, then?"

Oh, I thought Ronald Reagan was past 90 when he got elected! ;P

Gerald Ford was O.K. as President, except for when he pardoned Richard
Nixon. I've never been convinced that the political party didn't use him to
make a payoff . I really liked Betty Ford. She spoke her mind and was
honest and gutsy. It seems that more often than not, I'd rather have seen
the wife as President than the husband.
However, we are sending purrs of condolences to the Ford family. I believe
overall that he was a good man.

You might get your wish after the next election!

Hi Pat,
I'll bet that if she ends up in the oval office, she'll get rid of a lot of
furniture and re-do it. Gak, it's hard to imagine what it would be like for
her to be in that space. Or, maybe it would be some kind of justice?

$DEITY forbid that day happens, but if it did it would be cheaper on
the taxpayers for her to bring back the stuff she stole the last time
rather than refurnishing from scratch.

I think it's a bit of tradition (albeit a very expensive one!) for the FIRST
LADY to refurnish the White House, get new china, etc. Betcha the FIRST MAN
wouldn't give a rip about doing that ;)

and what most people don't know is that most of it is done with private
donations, Lee

Thankfully anything she removes that has serviced many past presidents will
be placed in storage for another day.
It may not be expensive if the First Lady requests older pieces to be
returned to former glory. I believe we've had a couple to do that.

As I love everything antique and vintage I'd certainly prefer restoring old
items to their former glory.
Sorry for not quoting, my entire computer is messed up. Happy New Year!
