I didn't get home until after 1 AM local time, so it's Christmas here.
Kenzie was hungry, and was meowing at the closet door where her bag of
food is kept.
Instead, I put down an extra food bowl (Blizzard's, RB; sniff....)
Kenzie eyed the bowl, and politely asked me what was up. But she clearly
was upset by the extra bowl.
However, when I opened the tin of sardines, and the bag of potato chips,
she looked like she wanted to jump up on the back of what has long been
*her* chair .
It's big enough to hold her, but I've never seen her on it. I tried to
entice her to climb up on the back of the chair, but Kenzie wasn't
having any of it. Instead, she jumped down and stared meowing by her
usual food bowl.
I put a sardine in one, and some potato chips in the other. Kenzie
sniffed both, and then hoovered up the sardine. She meowed at me for
another one, but when none was forthcoming, she went after the potato
chips, eating several. (it was a pretty big piece of fish, and she is on
a diet....)
I know this much rich food probably isn't good for her, but Christmas
(and one or two other special occasions, like her annual visit to TED,
comes but once a year.) Finally, I gave her some of her regular food,
with some of the sardine oil poured on it. It disappeared quickly.
Kenzie looks like the average American after a Thanksgiving turkey
dinner with all the trimmings: about to slip into a contented, food
induced coma.
I just went into the kitchen, and Kenzie opened one eye and mrrped a
greeting to me. I think she is still hoping for another sardine.
I don't think Kenzie understands what "in the morning" means.
She's such a precious little sweetheart. Merry Christmas, Kenzie.
Merry Christmas, RPCA

Burmese are like potato chips, you can't just have one!

Tigger and Sweetie are resting now. They helped me finish preparing
a batch of my famous and quite delicious slow-cooked turkey soup.
This particular batch spent over a week simmering on the stove
just to get tasty enough to be edible. (Preliminary samples tell
me that 2006-2007 is going to be a good year for turkey soup, though
the judges turned their noses up at it, as they do most two-leg food).
:) :) :)
