Wonderful bargain at work - someone brought in cat beds at a fraction of the
normal price.
I bought 2 for my two cats.
Kitty FC is not impressed with her lovely new bed with a fleece blanket in
it. She ignores it although I placed it right beside the fire, in favour of
her beanbag with a nice patchwork throw on it.
Boyfie has slept in his new bed a couple of times, just to show willing.
ATM he's asleep in his usual bed under the table with the tablecloth hanging
down to make him feel safe.
Following day I got an igloo to see if they would like it better. It's
still in the back of my car.
I guess I need to understand that my cats don't need anything that they
haven't got already. I need to stop buying things for them.
All they need is a safe place to live and sleep- and be fed regularly and
some petting. They have that.

The type of Meowmie you are, you are going to keep trying to improve
their lives. It is probably true that they have everything they could
ever want, except maybe a better supply of collared doves for Boyfie to
bring to Kitty FC as tribute. However, your loving attitude is
important and the new beds are a byproduct.

The collared dove supply has dipped. There are still plenty around but poor
Boyfie doesn't seem to be able to catch them at the moment. He brought a
blackbird instead and placed it on the doormat.
Kitty was horrified. "WOT is this supposed to be, where is my dove?"

I try to do my best for them.
I still find it strange to have cats, not dogs. They just *came* and I
wasn't really prepared for them.
It was a real culture shock. I could not understand their behaviour. "Get
off the table!" I would have only had to say this once - or maybe twice -
to my dogs. They would never have done this again.
My cats get off the table when they realise I am not happy and I raise my
voice slightly and say "GET DOWN OFF THAT TABLE, NOW"
Next day they are perched up on the table again. I shouldn't say "they"
really, it's not Boyfie usually, it's that tiny tuxedo, KFC, who does
exactly as she wants, always ;-)

Whadda ya mean, "your bed?" It's Snoopy's bed and you're lucky she lets you
use it.

I know, but it is just so tempting to get them new things. I will say
sometimes they suddenly notice the "new" thing after it has been around
a few months :D

The Girls seem to have three stages of acceptance of 'new' things -
First, a brief period of enthrallment (it's NEW! Wow! It smells funny,
let me sniff it all over to soak up the ambience!)
Followed by a lengthy period of total ignorance (I don't know what
that thing was supposed to do but I don't like it, take it away
meowmie!)
Some items never seem to get past this second stage... but for the
lucky toys that do, lastly, some weeks or months later, adoption (Gee,
thanks for this neat toy Meowmie, I don't know why I never saw it
before - it's great!)

It took Persia almost a year to sleep in her igloo style (pyramid) bed but
once she took to it she took to it! She loves that bed! But she'll only
sleep in it in the early evening hours, go figure. Cats are strange
creatures, that's why we love them so <G>
