Thanks for asking and sorry I didn't post an update.

Rusty had 2 teeth extracted at the vet. He was hissy mad when I went to
pick him up aftewards.
He bared his fangs and tried to lunge at the vet tech when she went to
take him out of the cage
into his carrier. I never saw him like that before, and was afraid to
touch him. Talking to him didn't help. The tech used a towel to slowly
nudge him into the carrier. He growled like an upset tiger and ignored
the vet's cat Chico who is his pal. He probably was hungry too as he
had an early supper the night before and no breakfast. They also took
blood from his neck area for tests to make sure he was healthy enough
for the operation. He always hate the blood drawing. But he was fine
once we got home and back to his usual self.

Yes Rusty is building a bad reputation at the vet. Back in Oct. during
the Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend I boarded him at the vet while I
went to my class reunion. He gave them a similar hard time when they
tried to take him out of his cage to give him his Program shot. They
waited till he was asleep. Later I heard from the vet it was a crazy
time there with so many cats boarded. One cat stuck its paws into
Rusty's cage to steal his food.  Good thing I am staying in town over
the Christmas holidays. I imagine it is a full house at the vet.  I
think Rusty hates being left behind there. He is a long time patient at
the vet and they couldn't believe it was the same cat that boarded
there before. He may also be getting grumpy at his old age.  I clipped
his claws tonight and he tried to bite me.

Poor thing! His mouth must be sore. Maybe he is like some people with
sensitive teeth (like me). Thanks for letting us know how he did.
Purrs that he doesn't have any more teeth problems.

Thanks for the purrs. Rusty needs them. The vet did warn me to keep
watch on his teeth. Said the same thing can happen to his other teeth.
Just hope he doesn't become a toothless tiger.
