Merry Christmas to all of my old friends at RPCA from myself, Chris, Penny
the Cat and Princess. All are doing well.

We're snowed in due to a blizzard here in Colorado.  I took advantage of the
down-time to repost "Penny the Cat's Night before Christmas" on my web page
(as I do every year). While doing so I was tempted to try playing with
another old Christmas tune and this is what came out.  I hope you don't mind
if I share it with you.

By the way, I'll be reposting "My favorite Things by Princess" on my web
page next week.  Of you haven't seen that, please stop by for a look.

Happy Holidays to all!

Inspired by "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day"

I Heard Meows on Christmas Day

I heard meows on Christmas Day
I looked about and saw a stray
Outside my door
And wanting more
"I have two cats; you can't come in."

She sat there looking thin and weak
And looked at me as if to speak
"I have no home,
"To call my own,
"Have mercy please and let me in."

I thought about it all the more
I love cats to my very core
I have two now
I said somehow
"I have two cats; you can't come in"

She sat there and began to bawl
But surely I can't save them all
For men are cruel
Even on this Yule
They'll toss them out not let them in.

They fill shelters from here to there
Guess homeless cats are everywhere
They prowl the night
Stay out of sight
They're on the outside looking in.

Then the meows grew deep and loud
I closed my heart and I'm not proud
She purred and meewed
She seemed quite shrewd
"Take pity please and let me in!"

She said "By now you must know that
"You really do need one more cat
"A home I seek!"
I must be weak.
I opened my heart and let her in.

Thanks Karen, same to you.
BTW I added some Colorado blizzard photos to the web site just a few minutes
ago. Just a few snap shots from around the neighborhood ... can't get out to
go anywhere else!

Wow!!! Man, that is a LOT of snow. We still have not had snow. This is
set to be a record breaker. We've never had snow this late. Got rain
but no snow.

I've just been to your site. I looked at your blizzard pics. You got a
lot and it came down nicely with little drifting. And I could see big
flakes. Pretty pictures. Not like our place 70 miles SE out on the
prairie. We didn't get any big snowflakes. And we got the full force
of the wind with all the drifts growing bigger and bigger and being
sculpted into fantastic shapes. I will try to post some pics on
Photobucket. I hope. My son took about 60 pictures during and after.

I enjoyed looking at Penny again and seeing how dignified she is. But
Princess is still my favorite. she is truly royalty. I especially
love the upside-downy-head pic! Aww!

The big flakes came as the storm was winding down.  There are more obstacles
here, but plenty of drifts went half-way up garage doors or more.  The
statistic that matters most to me - the 37 inches of snow in my driveway.
And its still such a mess today with people rushing around trying to catch
up in their preparations for the holiday.

Princess is such a blessing - she is just a total joy.

Hey, it's the "Cattitude" guy! :) Hi Ron!!

Is that Penny in the photo, under the tree? She's beautiful! And, as
usual, so is your photography. Those snow photos make me cold!

Luckily, it's warmed up a bit here in the Bay Area tonight - we've been
having unseasonably cold weather the past several days. Well, OK, it's
not *unseasonably* cold, since this is the coldest season we get. :) But
it usually doesn't go down to the mid 30s (around 0-2 C) night after
night. We're all getting some pretty weird weather these days, aren't we?

Glad to see that you're still popping into RPCA from time to time.

Hi Joyce,

That's my big girl Penny the Cat alright, cranky and lovable as ever.  I pop
in quite often to see what you folks are up to; this is one of the best
groups on Usenet IMHO. Penny and Princess always send silent purrs to those
in need.

Can't type much now as Princess is nestled all snug in my left arm, but yeah
the weather has been weird all over.  Our blizzard was a classic and
predictable "upslope" event though. Nothing weird about it - just part of
Colorado's magic  :-)
