I don't post much in here these days - with two little ones, I seldom
have time.  Also, things aren't too good at the mo and sometimes I
struggle.

However, today has been a stinkeroo.  I had my long-awaited appointment
with the endocrinologist, and I might as well not have bothered.   All I
wanted was some hope, and as far as she is concerned, there isn't
anything she can do for me.  Back to square one.

That pales into insignificance, however, beside the news that my uncle
has pancreatic cancer.  And it's inoperable.  He hasn't been able to
swallow since July - liquids only - so he's already weak & frankly
malnourished. They're going to sort out some chemo for him fast, but the
chances aren't good.  But they are not zero.  He could recover.

My aunt and uncle are the closest thing I ever had to parents.  They are
lovely, kind people.  Please would you purr for them?

Mogget

I'll send you as many purrs as people on this list have sent me over
the last 3 months, which is tons!

I can only say a friend of mine's sister was diagnosed with pancreatic
cancer and taken straight from the hospital to a hospice because she
was too weak for surgery. She was then sent home to get her strength up
for major surgery and at the moment (6 months or so later) she's still
getting there and hopefully will be having her surgery in the next
month or so. She's also on chemo and it seems to be working

I am sorry, my aunt was just rediagnosed with pancreatic cancer this week,
they give her 18 months, but the first time the chemo worked relatively well
and she was comfortable relative to others I know who have had chemo, so
there is hope and its not as miserable in the treatment area, I will pray
for you also, Lee

Massive, MASSSIVE Purrs, Mogget.  I'm so sorry to hear about your
uncle's diagnosis.  I know how it feels to get that kind of news--like
a building just fell on you.  My mother was diagnosed with Pancreatic
cancer in 1991, although she was VERY lucky to have a rare, and
operable case. She's still going strong almost 16 years later, and
although she has to take pills to help her digest her meals, she'd be
the first person to agree it's a small price to pay for not being dead.

Cancer is bad news at any time of year, but especially hard now, and
especially when it's someone so close to your heart.  The girls are on
purr patrol that chemo and treatment will help your  uncle recover,
that you will feel better, and that things won't look so dark, soon.

I'm sorry you are having so many troubles right now.
Purrs and prayers directed your way, and for your
Uncle and Aunt.  I don't know what your endocrinology
issues are, but if you feel like you need someone to talk
to about it, you are more than welcome to e-mail me,
my addy is unmunged.

Also, I have been been working for many years in an
area that requires a lot of experience in pain management,
including end-of-life situations.  If it comes to that for
your uncle, and if you are in any
need of information for any decisions you and your
family have to make, and options that exist, please
don't hesitate to ask.  I do not mind at all giving you
a way to sound off or verify information that your
are being given by hospitals, docs, etc.

Best wishes for you and your family.

I'm sorry about your bad news, and your uncle's bad news, too.  A good
friend of mine was also recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
It's a terrible disease - very deadly, with a dismal prognosis.
