Pat - 17 Dec 2006 03:17 GMT She would spend her life in my lap, licking my hands. The easiest way to get free of her is to put her with Baby Eyes, who will pin her down and lick her half to death.

Aw, I love licky cats and would have a hard time putting her down - but I guess you have to at some point or nothing would ever get done!

I don't like my cats to be too much "in yer face." Licky cats are OK for a few minutes for me, likewise tripping me up winding around my feet. We do "let's be quiet, knead a bit and purr while we watch telly in the evening" often. I'm probably ideal for ex-ferals, which is what I've got. I don't expect anything from them whatsoever, but they *do* give me something which I interpret as "fondness" or even "love."

She even "pulls up" on me when I'm standing wanting me to just pick her up and carry her around. Her & Bosley are my lap cats. Kind of on the same topic -- I pet cats all day, so I am constantly washing my hands, especially if I'm in the middle of cooking. Withthat, and the dry winter weather, my hands are a wretched mess. I always wish it were still the Jackie Kennedy era, and I could just wear gloves when I go out. I've tried every product under the sun. They get like this every winter.

Maybe you'll start a trend. :) And if you don't, at least your hands will be more comfortable.
I do hear you on the dry, chapped hands, though. The weather's not as rough where I live, but it is fairly dry, and I'm always putting on hand cream. If you don't want to wear gloves, you could invest in some high- quality hand cream, including some in a portable tube to have with you whenever you need it.

We don't have a Body Shop store. I'll google for it. On top of having dry, cracked hands and cuticles, I take bloodthinners. I looked down at church this morning and had blood all over my skirt from my hands.

My hands were so dry that there was a crack on my finger and it bled while I was on the piano. I guess repeatedly hitting the piano keys don't help.
I think the Body Shop has an online store where you can make purchases.

Yes, the same stuff that you can pick up at a dollar store, about 2 tubes to a dollar. Get the gel kind, it doesn't run all over like the regular stuff, but that's fine in a pinch.
I just carefully glue the edges of the skin together (or just cover it up like a bandage), and it holds for about 24 hours. One more application, and it's usually healed up enough to leave alone. It's cheaper and less bulky then a bandaid, and works just fine. I've even put it on top of mildly-infected cuts, and it still works fine. I think it's slightly antibiotic.
And....it's the same stuff that you buy in a drugstore for a whole lotta money. yes, I had the confirmed by a real doctor, the same one that glue my incision closed when I had surgery. So forget the Nuskin, or liquid bandage, or whatever it's called. Get ordinary cheap Super Glue!
As for creams and lotions, try to get the least-perfumed stuff you can find. That works best. I like Suave, or Vaseline Intensive brand, or, when I can afford it, Mary Kay.
Jane - been dry for ALL OF MY LIFE.

I found white cotton gloves at Wally World (Walmart). I can't remember what section, but I know that it was not in ladies wear.

I used them when I had hand surgery to hold the bandages in place.
Getting my hair done in a bit. I'll try to remember to ask the stylist what he used to get his hands cleared up. He used have a terrible time with dry cracked skin on his hands.

I got the cotton gloves in the gardening section. Just cheap cotton gloves are all you need. Something to keep the vaseline ON your hands and OFF the sheets. Wash your hands first, to get some wet into your skin, then dry and quickly slather on the vaseline.
