Your card arrived today, not bad three days from another country. I was
wondering about the bird on the stamp, it looks like a waxwing to me. Do
they have any significance in Finland?

Had to check what the bird was called in English. Yes, it is a waxwing
(bombycilla garrulus). They move to the south of Finland from the
northern forests at the end of autumn and eat rowanberries - hence, the
berries on the stamp too. I've seen some waxwings get a bit tipsy on
rowanberries that have been bitten by frost and turn sweeter...

I've got a rowan tree outside my window, I've never seen a waxwing even
though they're supposed to migrate to this area. Maybe one day I'll be lucky
and see one.

They're not that common here either, but I *have* seen some at times.
They're pretty birdies. :)
