Sometimes these furry critters just crack me up! My feet have been hurting
me lately and last Friday night after several hours standing in heels at a
holiday party I could hardly stand. On Saturday, DH had to go to Walmart
and asked if I wanted to go with him. I just didn't want to have to walk
around so I declined. Being the sweet husband he is he came home with a
heated foot massager. It looks kind of like two fuzzy, blue slippers sewn
together with nice softly padded soles. You put your feet into the slipper
part for a warm, foot massage.
Now Barnabus is extremely wary of anything new in his environment. This can
be a sock on the floor that wasn't there 5 minutes before or an elephant in
the livingroom. He will slowly approach the object in question, nose first
with his belly dragging the floor. So, here I am, sitting with my feet in
this blue, fuzzy foot massager which is humming just slightly. Barnabus
comes racing into the room with Lacey chasing him. Barnabus sees the blue
foot massager, which wasn't there when they made their last lap through the
house and almost burns a hole in the carpet as he puts on the brakes. Lacey
veers left and leapt onto the cat tree.
Veerrrry slowly, nose twitching and ears pointed forward, Barnabus stalks
the blue, fuzzy elephan....errr, I mean the foot massager. It takes him
several minutes to get close enough to get a good sniff, which is when the
devil jumped under my skin. That has to be the only explanation for what
happened next. I couldn't resist the urge to scoot my feet toward him. He
lept straight up in the air and backwards at the same time. The problem is
that Lacey had snuck up behind him to see what he was stalking. He landed
right on top of her. I think he thought that this strange blue animal has
somehow reached behind him and goosed him. He sprung in the air again, spun
around and came face to face with Lacey who was mad because he had jumped
her and she hissed and slapped his ears. He took off running to get away
from Lacey and ran straight into Sam who had jumped off the couch to see
what the ruckus was all about. The last I saw of the three of them was a
tumbling ball of black and grey fur with a mad, calico she-cat leaping over
the two of them and running to the back of the house. I checked on them a
moment ago and everyone was asleep on the bed. I suspect they're waiting
for the blue elephant to move next door.

Many, many ROFLs!
Julie, are you sure you're not channelling Dave Y? That was every bit
as vivid and hilarious as his (deeply missed) anecdotes!

Al,
I am humbed. Thank you very much. I didn't realize it when I wrote it, but
that opening sentence did sound very much like Dave, didn't it? Obviously he
made a lasting impression on me.

Oh how wonderful! I can just picture it!
We sometimes play nasty tricks like this on Persephone, for whom every
sunrise is a surprise. She never fails to react in an over-the-top and
very funny way. I suspect that if Barnabus (which I always hear as
"barna-BUS") and Persephone ever met they would have lots of
mal-treatment to gripe about.
Tish (wondering how we can persuade Julie and Rusty to come back for
another visit to Oz - pleeeeeeeease!)

lol! I love the description "for whom every sunrise is a surprise". Around
here Barnabus is usually pronounced "Barna-BUS", as in BarnaBUS, don't and
BarnaBUS stop and BarnaBUS what are you thinking or BarnaBUSSS, ose my baby
boy, aren't you, sweetheart?
Julie
We'll be back one of these days. We enjoyed our visit too much not to
return.

I rarely have my camera at hand when these great photo shoots happen. I'm
going to put it beside my couch one day.

I wear glasses, I've often thought it would be great if they had a camera
built in so when I see something cute I could take a picture straight away.

lol! I figured Miranda wouldn't like that. I suspect Barnabus ran to the
back of the house and teleported to her to tell her all about it. He's very
upset with me right now for not having sent her purrday wishes, btw. He
doesn't accept the idea of RL getting in the way of his romance.

That's what's so strange, Barnabus is not afraid of anything. He just
approaches certain things with caution. Usually the wrong things. He can
not figure out that Lacey should be approached with caution but a sock is
obviously a dangerous item. Go figure.

I never seem to have the vido camera handy when these events take place. I
think I need to place security camera around the room. Then I might get one
of these priceless moments on tape.

LOL!!!! I guess Sam is feeling OK these days too! I've seen cats do that and
it is hilarious. I can't believe laws of physics even apply to them when
they do that! Does that foot thing work? I've seen them at Walgreens and
wondered.

Sam is doing really well, Karen. His fur is growing back, he's looking
healthy and playing hard. At the very least, the foot massager feels good
at the time. I suffer from plantar fascitis (sp?) and when it gets really
bad the pain can go all the way up my leg. Because its portable enough, the
other day I placed it under my calfs. Ooohhhh, that felt sooo good!

You're welcome, Susan. Nosekisses to Otis and Chester. I'm really enjoying
the pictures you've posted of them lately. Even if I haven't said so in the
appropriate thread. Bad Julie. Must reply to posts.

You could not write this stuff! Where are hidden cameras when you need
them? Even the sound track for this event must have been hilarious. Gotta
