I was walking into the computer room this evening, and Licky was
standing in the doorway, waiting for me to come in so he could get
petted (this room is his favorite place for that). I was moving at
a fast clip, and he suddenly darted toward me, and we had a little
collision in the doorway, which banged against him kind of hard. He
shot off out of sight, and didn't come out from behind the big recliner
(one of his favorite hiding places) for about 15 minutes. And when
he did, he just sat there staring at me like he was sure I was the
#1 public menace.

And nothing could convince him to relax, not all the syrupy apologies
and coo-cooing in the world! My poor scaredy-cat!

But I guess all is forgiven - he's now lying in my arms, purring full
blast. He's not only a scaredy-cat, he apparently has a very short
memory.

Joyce, he's got other plans. He's going to milk this for all it's worth!
He will give you big eyes and a beggy, sad face for days until you pet
him for a few hours each time.

You might as well cancel all other commitments for awhile...  :)

Ha! And you should hear his piteous meow, when he wants attention!

You mean like my job? Oh, what a shame. :)

That used to happen to me with Grant all the time! I always felt SO bad, but
he would often jump somewhere just in front of me suddenly, or I would move
to pet him just as he suddenly jumped somewhere. It was so hard too! His
poor little head. I'm glad Licky got over it.

Sounds like Smokey, he too is a scaredy-cat. They easily forgive as long as
they get the better end of the deal. ;-)

This kind of thing happens all the time with Tiger.  He doesn't get
scared however - he just hisses.

I think you've been played.  Now Licky gets special treatment for the near
future.

He doesn't have to play me for that! I'm a sucker 24/7. :)

I used to work for a small company which had a cocker-spaniel mix,
Dixie, as the company mascot.  She was not the bravest dog in the
world.  On one occasion, I rounded a hallway corner too fast and
startled Dixie; for the rest of the day, she would bark at me whenever
she saw me.  By the next morning, however, she had gone back to being
friendly.

Awww.  How could he stay mad at/scared of his loving Meowmie?  Hope all
is truly forgiven.

KFC says how dare you upset her beloved Licky?  She's rising herself up to
slap the face of anyone who dares with all claws out.

<quaking> It was an accident, Kitty! Really, I didn't mean it! And Licky
has forgiven me, honest. It'll never happen again, I promise!!

Kitty sez hmmm.  She will fight you if you upset her Licky ever.   She sez
she has twenty-odd claws and knows how to use them.

(Meowmie note:  OMG she certainly does)

Yes, Kitty. You're right, Kitty. I will always be nice to Licky and will
never upset him again. He is my sensitive boy, who has a fierce Protector.
I'm merely a lowly slave.

Well, whatever it was, I'm sure it was just an isolated incident. :)

Kitty says what a pity, how useless is that?
She has 20ish.  Knows how to use them, too!

I didn't know KFC is a polydactyl!  How cute is that?!?!  I love poly's

I wouldn't describe her as a poly exactly but she has 20 claws.  She was
just showing off when she pretended she had more than that. <g>

What *is* she like?  A big show-off, that's what!  I am happy that she can
do this at the age of 20 plus/

Well where are her extra 2 claws?  Normally cats have 5 on each of the
front paws and 4 on each of the back paws.  Does he have 6 on the front?
Or does she have 5 on the back, like a little thumb?

Yes, five on the back not exactly like a little thumb, more like an extra
toe.
It doesn't matter really.
All Kitty likes to do at her great age of 20 plus is to snooze in front of
the fire, she has no interest in answering your questions about her feet.
Zzzzzz.

I wasn't asking her questions about her feet, I was asking you.
