We seem to have a serial killer in Britain.  He has killed 5 young
prostitutes (driven by drug addiction to work in the sex trade) in the last
few weeks.  Two bodies were found yesterday.
We had a serial killer of prostitutes in the late 70's/early 80's.  Peter
Sutcliffe.  In his heyday he killed around 13 IIRC.  He killed one every few
months.  As far as I know he is still in prison.
There has never been a serial killer here who has killed so many women so
often until now.
Please send your best purrs and prayers that he will be caught soon. I wish
we still had the death sentence here for this one.

It is so serious that it is being considered to provide heroin free of
charge to keep these women off the streets.  Drug addiction seems to be the
main reason why women get caught up in prostitution.  They get told by a man
"I'll get you what you need, but you have to work for me."
That's how it happens.

I'm so lucky, I was offered drugs but I always refused.  What might have
happened to me if I'd agreed?  It doesn't bear thinking about.

Indeed, it is a two-way street.  Some of those who end up in the sex
industry were offered drugs (and, in the case of runaways, shelter and
food) but in exchange, once they're hooked, have to become prostitutes;
other times, girls who have become prostitutes (again, often runaways
who can't get legal jobs due to not being able/willing to show ID, or
those with a history of sexual abuse which makes becoming a prostitute
all they think they're "Good for")  turn to drugs as a way of coping
with what they have to do to survive.

Regardless, purrs for this monster to get karma payback ASAP.

Terrible. We have a serial rapist in one of our major cities at the moment;
both DH's and my sisters are there so it's worrying. He is targeting joggers
and they don't jog thank goodness but it's very worrying for all the women
in the area.

If only they could really get the punishment that they deserve.
FYI  The monster that killed little  5 year old Destiny Norton  last year
got life in prison without possibility of parole.   MLB

Many purrs for him to get caught and prosecuted before he kills any
more.
There was a serial killer of prostitutes in Vancouver, killed around 50
I think.  Turns out the fed them to his pigs and made sausages out of
the pigs?  I think that's what it was, memory is kind of vague on the
issue.  The main thing I remember is that his pig farm was very close to
where Dennis and I used to live.

Ew!  That doesn't bear thinking about.

After Katrina my mom refused to eat crabs or any other seafood - and she's
not alone.  The seafood industry on the Gulf Coast was almost flattened by
Katrina (some boats were found as far as 30 miles onshore), and afterwards,
because of the above, they continued to suffer from it by decreased sales!

Hi Tweed

Sutcliffe is still in prison

I just shudder when something like this happens...Apparently some
charity is paying girls to stay off the streets but there was an
horrendous interview with one of the girls who knew the victims in the
"Daily Mail". She was the daughter of two addicts both dead before 40.
At Xmas when she was 13 her mum had no presents for her but gave her a
pipe and some smack....

She's out there working because she needs the money for smack and can't
ever see herself getting off smack as she said "I'll be dead in 10
years...does it really matter whether it's the smack or  some psycho?"

I cried when I read that
