I just came upstairs from putting the laundry on to wash, and Tessie
was lying on the back of the couch doing her patented dead-cat
impersonation. At first I thought 'oh, how cute, dead-cat trick', then
I walked into the kitchen (which usually brings her running) and she
didn't move. So I called her name and she didn't even twitch! Not even
when I called her again and clapped my hands! And she was right next
to the blind and the christmas lights with her head halfway through
the blind... I was over there before you could say 'Oh God, please
no!'
I put my hand on her tummy to see if she was still breathing, and she
lifted her head and looked at me and said 'what's the fuss all about?'
Thank goodness she was just sound asleep... I might TALK about her
being a holy terror, but I couldn't bear for anything bad to happen to
her. I guess she just wanted to remind me how much I love her...

I know the feeling. Kramer sleeps in some of the most ackward positions I have
ever seen, sometimes I think he is has quit breathing. He has a habbit of
sticking his tounge out, and when he is in these position, he looks "too"
zonked. My heart always skips a beat when I see him.

I'm used to her sleeping on her back all twisted up like a pretzel -
that I can get used to. But the little brat didn't respond to me when
I called her name! Usually you just have to say Tessie and she opens
her eyes and mreeps at you, and if you go into the kitchen she's there
in a flash.

I think that must be a trick that all cats learn from the mothership. Figaro
the cat I grew up with was an expert, you could pick her up and she still
wouldn't move.

Dave once nearly gave Sarrasine the kiss of life! Yep she's the "dead cat
position" expert

Hi Karen,
That would get my heart beating, too.
I'm glad it was just a trick and nothing was wrong.

That was a typical b*st*rd cat trick. Shmogg, the original B*st*rd Cat,
has pulled that one on Yowie several times, I believe. Purrs for your
nerves to settle down.

IIRC Yowie played b*st*rd hoomin tricks on Shmogg by moving him to another
room without waking him. :-)
